If you were to swap an S85 into any BMW...

    What BMW would that be?

Purely hypothetical thread. I think with the S85 being off the market now we will see more and more interesting swaps utilizing it.

Well, if you want to build an insane drag car that is definitely the way to go.

A replica of this. The M49 in these cars are a thing of beauty (430hp from 3.5L I6) so i wouldn't touch it, the M30 in road going versions though aren't that great. But it needs serious chassis work. The chassis get flexed even by the stock 200hp if you treat it bad. a +500HP V10 would do that in a sec.

pre-redesign BMW Z3 with manual trans. I ran across a build on another thread where they managed to sway the entire rear end from an m6 into a z3. I drooled over it for days

I think an E92 M3 with the V10 would be pretty interesting.

Z8 as well although this would be a big budget build.

Not sure what other cars make sense. Maybe a Z4 coupe?

    E36 for sure

I rode in my buddies E36 last night and godamn does that car feel good pushing through the twisties. Having that sick sounding V10 scream out the exhaust would make it that much better

Does it have to be a BMW? Fine...

I would probably put it in a BMW 2002 E9 and slam it to the ground, put LONG gears in it and race it on the highway LOL BUH BYE

    The 2002 is not E9.

What would you put it in if not a BMW then?

    E46 M3. More specifically... my E46 M3.

If I ever do blow my motor, it's S85 or S62 swap time.

The reason I say the E89 is there is no M variant.

I have toyed with the idea many times. Conclusion was that in NA form they are limited to around 500whp which in this day and age is not really that exciting. If I had to choose though it would be in a E30 M3 body which we didn't get in South Africa
