E60 M5 Officially Ends Production - Best Selling M5 of all time
After 5 years, the production of the E60 M5 has come to an end. Production was a record high for M5's, with exactly 20,548 units having been produced. 19,523 were the sedan with the rest of the production belonging to the wagon. The E39 M5 was produced for 6 years, 1 year longer, but had smaller production numbers overall.
The United States was the largest market for the vehicle, accounting for 8,800 sales alone. Germany only accounted for 1,647 units. Great Britain and Ireland combined for 1,776 units sold. Japan was the fourth largest market. Interestingly enough, the United States was larger than the next 3 largest markets combined. It was also the only region to receive a 6 speed manual option.
We will remember the E60 M5 as the last naturally aspirated M5. The V10 was magical and could have continued to evolve. Nothing except for emissions regulations stood in BMW's way to take the S85 V10 to incredible heights. We will never see the likes of a V10 revving to over 8000 rpm in a sedan from BMW again. Truly a special M5 with a challenging motor as well as challenging styling. It will be missed, as will this this chapter in the History of M.Stage 2 or 2.5 E9X M3 S65 V8 supercharger kit for sale: http://www.boostaddict.com/showthrea...r-kit-for-sale

The S85 V10 will go down as one of the best, if not the best sounding BMW powerplant ever, the sound is pure sex.
Great car, I was always a fan of the E60 body style.
I believe it is now an instant classic, being their last NA M5. I will own one in the future.
