Ive always wanted a dedicated high hp truck, specifically drag racing, say an s10 or syclone. theres just somehting really badass about a big hp truck. If i were to do it now, i would do a silverado SS clone, but in reg cab configuration.. i miss the days of sport truck rivalry. dakota r/t- lightning, then lightning- ram srt-10 ect..

Now that is something to look at. Like LM said those Syclones from back in the day were pretty badass. Big displacement with a turbocharger is something that will create massive amounts of power. Love seeing people just go all out with builds. Hopefully the n54 will be there someday Click here to enlarge

thing is there are lots of trucks with AWD and drivetrains that can handle it, they may not be the most aerodynamic but they are overdesigned for rigorous duty anyway, they make great platforms such as this. I saw an LS based 1000 + HP silverado once, AWD from a dig or from a roll it was game over basically.

They were more fun to drive with the stick and handled better. The lightning was just easier to mod but the top SRT-10's will $#@! all over the lightning. Can't beat turbo 8+ liter V10's.

tell that to Johnny Lightning Performance..

JLP has the fastest gen 2 L, shop is 1 1/2 hrs from me, did all my work, Ralph vorhees is my buddy, had a JLP motor in his gen 1, now has a reg cab srt 10, its fun, but not a real sport truck, compared to the L's

fastest srt 10 is only 10.7@125.

    Dragtimes isn't the bible.

This site isn't working well but SRT-10's have gone faster than that. Anyway, they have 1500+ whp builds. The lightning can't keep pace: http://jmbperformance.com/store/prod...roducts_id=303

Ok so I was right and dragtimes was off.

Regardless, that V10 is capable of way more power just as I said.

lol wut? you were wrong, dead wrong, but dragtimes is off.

but i was wrong too, because lightings are now in the 6's @212, and jlp doesnt hold the record, some other guy with a 7.9@175

I just said SRT-10's have gone faster than what you claimed and you proved YOURSELF wrong. Your dragtimes post was off hence why you can't treat it like the be all end all.

Dedicated drag lightnings with tube chassis' are completely different, come on now. Do you really think that 5.4 liter V8 is going to make the same power as the strongest 8 liter V10 viper motors? Turbo SRT-10's will be making more power than lightnings that are supercharged no doubt about it and additionally the Lightning will have to go turbo to even be in the discussion.

i was wrong about the fastest srt10, yes, but even the corrected 13-1500hp one didnt go faster than the one record that i posed originally.. hell, 9 second DD lightnings are very common, and do it with less HP, im telling ya, all dodge did was slap a motor and some wheels on the truck, its not designed to be the best

You showed a tube chassis dedicated drag lightning.

The Viper motor will make huge power.

The reason the lightnings drag well is due to an auto trans and SC off the line. That's it. Not because they are better. The Lightning takes the AMG approach whereas the SRT-10 is more like an M and a better all around performance truck.

when you compare 140mph -170, it doesnt matter about the launch, it will rape on the street too. IIRC, those high hp srt-10's are using tubro's, same as the high hp L's. its ford vs dodge, and we all know how that plays out, everytime
