    Charge pipes and Blow off valves

    I have a fbo 335i running e85. Is there really that big a of a difference when it comes to having a charge pipe or blow off valve and if so which ones are best?

    Charge Pipe + Forge DV's....Good Combo. Unless you like the whoosh sound the turbos make then go with a BOV. But as far as if they are needed, I'd say Yes. The more power/boost you're running the more likely you're stock CP/DV's are going to break/pop loose, just a matter of time with the stock ones, i'd replaced them asap.

    Im also curious of this as I had my chargepipe replaced with an ETS chargepipe and and Tial BOV. I mainly did it so I could have meth bungs for my meth kit, but I was also having boost leak. Im still having boost leak, but what are some other easy areas a boost leak could be coming from? Im getting my intake valves cleaned at AK Motorsports this upcoming week through their group buy. I emailed them to see if they had a smoke tester for boost leak and they dont. But they said they could still check for boost leak. How can you check for boost leak with no smoke tester?

    I've been running Cobb's most aggressive FBO pump gas map with stock chargepipe/DVs and zero issues. Datalogs look good. I'd say if it's not broken, why fix it Click here to enlarge Also, earlier models (07-08) can use a meth elbow to run meth instead of having to replace the entire chargepipe.

    Some get away with it, some dont. I guess you could always wait till something gives up lol

    For the guys running a Tial BOV what spring pressure are you guys using? I'm hoping someone has measured the vaccuum an N54 generally pulls at idle.

    Nitehawk: This has been my experience too. But I recently installed my Helix FMIC and now a hear a "SQUAWK" sound when letting up on the accelerator after a medium-hard accelaration. I presume the SQUAWK sound is the greater amount of air being released through the stock diverter valves. Do you hear similar sounds as well?

    Nope. No noise issues. Double check your intercooler connections to make sure everything is set properly. Otherwise, check if you have any related codes and log data if needed.
