Cool Harsh Ride in X3 gen 1 Fixed with Good Result

The X3 gen 1 ride quality is known to be notoriously harsh. My car has been provided with 235/50/18 front and 255/45/18 rear from the beginning.

I've know changed to the stock Volvo XC90 tyre dimension in all four corners. This is 235/60/18, which looks a lot better (beefier) and provides an immense improvement in riding quality in all situations. The tyres are Michelin Latitude Tour HP.

The pic below is in heavy rain and low light with the mobile but it shows the proportions are even better than the stock 18" wheels that looks too low for this type of car.

    You have the sport package?

I did on mine and yes, it was harsh. Handled really well though.

Yes it is the sport package, and it still handles well compared to many conventional cars. The only issue now is I believe a couple of the so called 231 horses never left Munich. The engine is too weak for my taste but it is a nice winter car.

I ran a 528i and was door to door. The X3 isn't that bad but in stock form certainly under-powered these days.

Tune and intake to wake it up?

Will this have a noticeable effect on the M54B30, 231 hp Engine? The engine is noticeable unwilling above like 4500 RPM. It can be forced to 6 k but it takes ages and there is no real power above 5 k. This is OK when there is 1 inch ice on roads but not good enough during the warm season. I don't need a lot of power in this car but a 20-30 more horses would mean a lot.

Yes a tune and intake will wake it up a bit especially up top.

I mean you always have the option of a supercharger or turbo as well but that's way more money.
