    New 3 Series Renditions

Click here to enlargeClick here to enlargeI personally like the direction it's going

Codenamed F30, the car has been in development since the E90-coded (BMW is out of EXX project codes) 3-Series debuted as a 2006 model. We expect the F30 to formally debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in under 9 months, although the automaker will probably release images and some details by the end of 2010. Convertibles, coupes, M3s, a traditional wagon and a 3-Series Gran Turismo will follow as BMW expands the 3-Series model lineup.

Our illustrator consulted with inside sources who revealed that the new car will ride on a slightly longer wheelbase Ė up around an inch and a half Ė but will have considerably shorter overhangs. In addition to giving the car a sportier look, the longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs preserve its small exterior dimensions that help give it its legendary handling.
Look for some of the upcoming X3ís design language to carry over into the 3; Chris Bangleís flame surfacing is long gone and the X3 is expected to introduce a series of design cues. Yet donít count out the current 5-Series, which has returned to its crisply tailored look for the 2011 model year. The 5-Series and the Z4 lend their forward-pushing snouts and increasingly sharp angles.

I like new 5 tremendously but this isn't Sibal's best work. All he did was take all his cues from the 5 and throw it together for leftlanenews to make an easy $1000. I doubt the new 3 will look like this as it would not be innovative at all in the styling department.

Its frikken ugly, and it looks like a 7 series in the front some what mixed with a 5 Series. Either way not a fan of it. I wonder what the next m3 will look like.

I like it, the engine line up for the F-30 has me confused. BMW just released the N55 in most of its cars. Now they are talking turbo 4?

I'll see it when they release it. Simple as that. Looks good though!

Turbo 4 will just be in addition and a way for them to keep their MPG average up.

So it seems like a boosted line up with a turbo 4 and 6. Give us a turbo 8 in the M3 please!

Would love nothing more than a turbo 8 in the M3 but the V8 days are over I'm afraid.

I think for the meantime that maybe, but I won't be surprised if they come back to them. I mean there is no way they're going to stop producing behemoth v8 diesel trucks (not bmw specifically, just a general statement), so maybe somewhere along that variation, there can be hope...

    Who knows?
