so are potential power numbers going to be much different in between the etune and dyno tune?

Really can't say I can pinpoint anything and that's why my last answer was vague...i would guess certain things, outside peak power gains, such as throttle response might be easier to calibrate in person as it may be hard for the end user to word exactly what they'd like to do there...

One cool thing I learned recently is that other than providing a particular throttle mapping for the car, those with automatics can benefit from separate throttle maps in D and DS modes Click here to enlarge pretty cool i must say

Like Stock throttle mapping when it's in D & then Linear when it's in DS??

Yes Click here to enlarge Like having an M button when you go to DS, different throttle mapping...make one linear for the road course and the other stock/aggressive for the street or whatever combo you want

I only use ST, but what options are there: Stock, Linear & Alternative?? Just want to make sure there isn't a 4th secret option out there

Off the shelf you get a version of a stock and linear maps. These, just like anything else, can be calibrated any way you prefer your throttle to be/feel like

I'd like, if possible, a map in the D mode that maximizes fuel economy, and a tune in the DS mode for power.

This is what we demonstrated in Andy1991's custom tuning a couple days back, not sure if you had a chance to see it. The immediate benefit we have is our good 94 octane.

As for shops in our area, for 4WD cars we go to Magnus Motorsports on their 424x dynojet. For RWD we either hit Champion Motors in Scarborough or TAG Racecraft in Oakville.

Jake will have his own local dyno contacts in his area obviously for those near him.
Yeah, I had a look at that. I wasn't sure how much of a margin there is on the stockers since Andy has RB's. The thread posted by @bobS about his custom tune gives me a better idea though. It's more about the delta as you've mentioned.

Yes, every car is different and it comes down to conditions, octane and every car's different in how it responds. Some cars will start to pull back timing earlier than others even with the same mods and octane in them which is also kind of a point of getting a custom tune. Power will vary but ends results should be close given mechanically sound cars to begin with of course.
