Independent ESS S65 E92/E9X M3 Supercharger Dynos Falling Short of Claimed Numbers?

Here is an independent dyno of the ESS VT-600 SC kit on 93 octane. It fails to crack 500 whp with with a full exhaust.

    1st dyno
    - bone stock
    2nd dyno
    - ESS VT2-600 Supercharger Kit
    3rd dyno
    - ESS VT2-600 Supercharger Kit
    - RPi GT Front Pipe/Cat Delete
    - RPi X-Pipe
    - Vorsteiner Titanium catback and connecting pipes

Here is the graph that was originally being used to sell the kit, claimed to be on 93 octane through the stock exhaust, 100 whp difference between independent dyno and ESS dyno:

Here is the dyno now featured on the ESS site for the VT2-600 after the dyno controversy:

In actuality, it is almost 40 whp short from the numbers on the ESS site. Independent dynos continue to show much lower numbers than the numbers posted by ESS themselves on various platforms.

ESS requested BimmerBoost organize an independent dyno comparison which BimmerBoost will be hosting the weekend of July 30th to clear this all up once and for all.

I had no idea about any of these #'s. Im not too into the M scene, except for what i read on another forum, N54 specific actually. I was under the impression that all the S/C S65's were in the upper 5's, low 600 HP range. This is good to know.

It just depends what setup you are talking about. With meth, yep, the S65's are in the upper 500's and low 600 range even on pump.

Wow ... I run the ESS kit on my car and I am really happy with it but that first graph numbers is really low!
My VT1 (stage 1) kit did 441whp on 4.5 boost.
Where was this done at? ... Location may have a part due to elevation.

Not if this M3 is DCT and not if this M3 runs race gas.

well we don't know what LM's 335 would put down with race gas either...wasn't his dyno with pump and meth?

It was on race and meth...

Should be a close race depending on how long they go.

ESS the king of dyno manipulation! Ive known this for years now.

People did not catch it on the S54's only because they never released a production kit! lol

All they did with the S54 was hype dyno graphs ALL THE TIME with ZERO actual proof.

Maybe they will fail and people will see the real deal with their dyno BS with the E9x M3 since they are actually selling the kit.

who knows, so many factors. weight, gearing, im auto, he is manual.

I was on straight 104 oct/meth for my dyno's.. what people are forgetting is that my 502 was the 12th pull in 2 hrs, and failsafe at 5800 rpm in 91* weather, so plenty more room for improvement i believe. Also considering changing exhaust as my miltek is 2 1/2, but so quiet that it may be hindering performance

A lot of people are mentioning this stuff about them not releasing a kit. Don't they have that entry level kit out and another one as well for the S54?

They posted so many different things with the S54 as far as kits, dyno's, blowers etc.. that I, as well as everyone else is confused about what they are finally offering.

Supposedly the VT 455 or some $#@! was released 2 months ago. And now they are pre ordering the VT500 or something like that. It has taken them years and years to finally release a kit (which is not even fully released from what i know).

Meanwhile they would always post dynos that always had more power compared to others.

Hahaha, this I definitely agree with. They have posted so many dynos about kits some of which exist some of which don't that it even confuses their own employees (Roman) Click here to enlarge

Seems they prefer playing dyno games to reality but it seems there are 2 kits available right now which we have seen on customer cars in the US finally.

Actually sticky that is more like 50wheel down from ESS' numbers right?

if the car made 471whp and the stock run was 329whp thats a ~139 wheel gain on stock exhaust.

with the ESS dyno claiming 510whp and their stock number at 320whp then that's 190whp gain so that's about ~50whp short of claims. with both cars running a stock exhaust allegedly. When I asked about this graph ol PG said it was "due to customer installation they might have a boost leak" LOL..mmkk

^ There is no boost leak, these are the numbers independent dynos are putting down.

We have never seen anyone replicate the 560 whp on pump through the stock exhaust let alone the 600.

That is their marketing strategy. Post higher dyno numbers at same boost levels as competitors and make customers think they have a better kit. It actually works on most people as alot of S54 guys seem to like ESS. Their constant manipulative dyno's made customers think ESS actually make more power then others.

Ive had this battle with them years ago...

It most certainly does work but it also causes them to lose respect with the guys who actually get it. One side is larger than the other though.

lol yep. More fairy tales then a childrens book I love it and the best part is most of the guys who bought the kit didn't even dyno it so the dont really know what they are making. And if they got a dyno it was done by ESS or their Dealer. Except this guy.

You guys didn't even notice that the independent (1st) dyno is is using STD correction, so his numbers will actually be lower when converted to SAE.

Not surprised, we will see lots more independent dyno's falling short in due time...
