    GINTANI carbon/carbon clutch

Well sometime ago I had the chance to get in on the GB for the Gintani clutch pack for the 6MT transmission.

I got my clutch pack yesterday! I was very very happy for a couple of reasons.

The stuff looks spanking awesome it was well built and lightweight. But I haven't driven it so I can't really comment on that part. But I did have a chance to step on the clutch when I was in LA right before Bimmerfest.

I can comment a little bit on the pedal feel.
The clutch will feel a bit heavier but not by much. Actually its better because the clutch pedal actually springs back better so its more suited to aggressive driving. Feels a lot like the Porsche GT3 clutch

as for the how it grips I will still need to find that out.

but I did notice that the OEM clutch has 3 layers of friction pads. Gintani clutch has a 6 layers.

I guess the more layers the more power it can handle.

Do you know how many guys are or are going to be running this? Do you happen to know how much torque it can handle as well? Thing seems pretty beefy but also is not incredibly heavy.

I had a chance today to do some city driving! and the clutch felt real good.

its heavier for sure but in a good way. The main thing that strikes me hard is that the engagement point seems to act really really fast. I remember the stock clutch it took just a split sec.

I know all clutches engage right way but this is either powerful to the point that is help the reaction time.

again the clutch feels really like the Porsches GT3 MKII but the MKI is still heavier then this Gintani Clutch pack. so something to compare if you know anyone who owns a GT3

Overall right now I like it a lot. I have a 500 mile break in which is suggested by Gintani so I will follow by that.

I'll come back with more updates onces i get more miles on it.

Thanks Eugene ... I think the stock clutch sucks so I'm really looking into a new one.
The GT3 clutch is pretty heavy on the feet for DD ... I wonder if a female would be able to use this clutch system as a DD?
