Are you doing 6 nozzles direct port injection with the methanol?

Yes, .75 Labonte nozzles, using the brand new S4 integrated controller. I'm using 3 solenoids ( 1 per 2 runner).

Interesting. I'd like to see how this turns out. Are you going to raise the boost or run a more aggressive tune with the methanol?

I've been thinking about doing a 6 nozzle setup but I keep hearing that the gain is not worth the trouble...

The first time you have ever proven yourself useful to me on a board... interesting, good job pointing that out.

Once it is dialed in, I can probably go ahead and install a T-Trim and shoot for 11-12 PSI on the basic VF Stage II tune. The plan is to eventually upgrade to Stage III anyway. Right now I am putting down 503 whp on 104, with the Meth installed I should be able to get near that number on 94 pump. On 104 and Meth I should have no problems at all turning the boost up another 2 PSI, which should put me in the 550 area.

A Meth kit is not that expensive compared to other mods and it is a nice insurance policy.

Ugh, I don't know why I said nitrous. Yes, I know it is meth, I should have stated direct port meth.

I think I just automatically associated nitrous with direct port.

Very nice and clean setup, props. Very VERY smart move using meth injection. From what I've seen, it's going to be hard to have 6 nozzles NOT spray TOO much meth, will be interesting if these nozzles are any different.

How much did the whole oil cooler setup cost you?

That would be my concern as well, too much meth. I remember with some direct port nitrous setups you can only go so small per cylinder.

About $800 I think.. not sure though would have to look it up. The Setrab coolers are not the cheapest (but the best).

I'm using the .75 Nozzles (35 ml/min) For my application I would be running a single M5 (315 ml/min) so I'm injecting quite a bit less than the standard setup. Also the new S4 controller allows me quite a bit of tuning flexibility.

There have been a few used on ESS kits similar to my setup. It doesn't hurt that I use to be a plumber either.. and NO.. not the unclog your sewer type lol..

The main reason to do a direct port injection is for even spray across all cylinders. I keep hearing that it's not very beneficial. I had my heart set on doing direct port but I was told it's not worth it. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. If it comes out nicely, I'll probably just jump and do it.

That is one advantage.. however not the main reason I have chosen to do so. The VF kit comes with a liquid to air charge cooler mounted inside the intake. Most people install the nozzles before the charge cooler. It may work for some people, but it is not the right way to install the system. You are going to loose some atomization and the chilled cooler in colder temps will cause condensation from the humidity created by engine heat. You are in essence spraying through a radiator. Have you ever sprayed a pressure washer through a radiator? It comes out the other end sloppy and dribbling. The fins would cause some of the atomized mist to form back into solid liquid as it is almost certain some liquid would be trapped by the fins. This is not how meth was intended to be used. The Methanol for the most part evaporates instantly leaving behind the water. The water would almost certainly partially turn back into a solid thereby forming water dropplets getting sucked into the combustion chamber.

Because there is little room after the charge cooler, the only way to get an even distribution is direct port. The choice to go direct port is due to the charge cooler, not becaue I just wanted to spend more money haha.. If your running a FMIC.. one nozzle would be fine.

Again.. it has worked for others using the VF charge cooler.. but it is not the right way to do it. If I was running a FMIC, I would just use one nozzle. In fact if I was running a FMIC I would probably be willing to experiment with pre-compressor injection which if setup properly is hands down the best way to employ methanol.

That's some good info right there. I didn't think about that aspect. I guess direct port would be my best option as well. Now the issue would be the nozzles. Hopefully the nozzles you have are small enough to flow the correct amount of methanol/water.

Well, in the S54 it may be worth it as once going above a certain rate of flow I believe I remember reading that you would not get an even distribution.
