The dyno is just around the corner from my house but don't plan to take it until i've done more tuning and maybe DPF removal.

The car monitors the pressure before and after the DPF and starts a regen when that delta gets high. I plan to use the AEM to mimic the sensor levels of a free flowing DPF so the DECM does not feel the need for a regen. As for the CAT, the AEM can control the o2 signals.

Sweet! Sounds like the AEM will be able to handle all of our modding needs. The only other thing I was thinking was compensating for difference in airflow if you delete/remove the EGR. I think with EGR and dpf/cat gone we can pick up some decent power and mileage also.

The AEM can take car of that too. I have control of the MAF signal too. i'm making some changes now to the wiring because i want to tune the car in anouther manner. I plan to post an update once i feel things are not going to change again.

    All,

I have been doing some tuning this week and have found something interesting. It seems there is a peak at ~1800 BAR or 4.5V from the rail pressure sensor. Looking at my logs you can see that it hits a ceiling. A stock 335d will push the pressure to 4v max. So if you drop the signal to the DECM by 0.2v it will keep pushing the pressure up until it reaches 4v. The real pressure sensor signal will be 4.2V in the end. What is happening is the fuel rail has a bypass valve that bleeds off pressure if it gets to high and it seems that it right about 4.5v. You can see the AEM is sending the DECM a value of 3.7v when the pressure sensor is at 4.5V. The DECM is suppose to keep increasing pressure until the AEM is sending it 4v. The good thing here is I'm not getting any check engine lights. It could be because I'm clamping the voltage to the DECM at 4.1v so it doesn't spike when the pressure ramps up quickly.

To confirm, I reduced the fuel amount to try and be as close to 4.5v on the rail pressure sensure and sure enough my valtage values did what i though they would. So i'll spend a few more days dialing the peak pressure. Now the real tuning comes in with pushing more fuel at lower RPMs under a load. I should be taking it to the dyno after that to compare my numbers; I have a feeling it'll be the same as all the other tuning boxes in the end. After that the fun begines with the water meth injection tuning on the AEM.

All, here is the latest schematic and i think this is the final one. Also, you may not have to add the OP-Amp for the throttle. I think the issue i had came from something else, just wire the AEM in without it.

I finally got the car dialed in to where Iím right at/near the rail pressure limit. The car feels amazing all the way through the RPM, and once again no check engine lights!! I am literally at 99.99% of what you can turn the fuel up to. I'm planning on using 50/50 water meth to get more top end power as I have more than enough down low; this should help my 1/4 mile trap speeds. I also just ordered a K&N replacement air filter to see if that helps a bit.

To all who have done dyno runs on these cars, do you do them in third?

I did mines w/o the dsc off and on sport mode not using none oo the M modes and critmas tree light up. I was a novice on this type of car im getting the egr done and I will do dynos all over again without RENNtech flash before n after and Amsoil filter, this will be in next 3 Weeks, when I did the before n after where as follows 230 whp before and 300 whp after RENNtech flash no torque measure we did not know how to get themm awaiting for Lenny at RENNtech to show me how, will keep everyone posted ok!!!

Eddie, people dyno in fourth. In the link Terry has a great write up of everything. Very good read especially in case of AT tranny that is quite a challenge to dyno right.

Thanks, 4th gear is 1.14:1 as an FYI. Not going to dyno until after the water meth, they want $100 for three pulls; that's half my mater/meth setup.....that is on the way!

There's some data over on bimmerfest (search thread "335d Torque/BT data collection") that may be helpful on your quest. Data regarding remap stacked with JBD (JBD basically works like what you're doing with rail pressure) stacked with H2O/Methanol injection.

Good luck, and watch that low rpm torque . . .

Ok all, I got the water meth kit in and it works like a champ. The install was a bit of a pain because there is little room in the engine bay. Right now I'm running -20deg washer fluid but plan to move up to a 50/50 mix of water meth. I'm using the AEM to turn the pump on and control the injection solenoid and it is working flawlessly. I gradually turn up the flow as the RPMs go up and I get a smooth pull all the way to redline. I plan to tune it in more this week then take it to the dyno after. You can't realy tell the kit is there unless you really look for it.

I do think the water meth did some cleaning as the engine is idling smoother after a few long highway pulls.

Yes, the car does pull harder. I'm still not pushing a lot of watermeth. I just made a new tune i'm going to test tonight. Right now i'm not injecting 100% until 5K and interpolate down to 1800rpm. I'll slowely start spraying at 100% lower in the RPMs until i feel it's good. I also mixed a nice bit of 50/50 mix to try too. I'll update everyone later....

I just got back from testing the new map and i have to say WOW. It pulls so hard in the upper RPM it's crazy. I added to much meth in the lower RPM and can feel it bog a tad, but as soon as it gets to about 3K rpm it just light up and goes. Meth likes to be at a specific ratio where it makes most power so i'll have to do a little more tuning.

    Every 335d should have this!!!
