    $ for the gains.

    The stroker is the way M would do it and the way they did do it. The thing is, you pay a lot of money for something you can't just bolt off and sell later.

    It will cost about $18k to do a good stroker motor and you will only end up with horsepower in the low 400 wheel range. A supercharger will kill it for less cash although not offer nearly as responsive of a motor.

    Crank is about the most expensive component in the engine.

    A 3.4 crank for the S54 from VAC is $5000. Plus there is a lot of other work you have to do to make the engine fit the crank. Special rods and pistons to maintain a proper compression ratio, and hopefully bigger cams and valves to make use of the additional displacement.

    Not saying it isn't worth it. A stroked M motor, NA with aggressive cams is probably the greatest sound known to man.

    There are a few sources but it depends what you want your stroke to be. You can always get a custom crank.

    I don't think BMW sells the GTS crank but they really should.

    Thank pencilgeek for showing us how pathetic the gains are. $#@!, for the same peak, usable power, one could get a 535 kit, for what, 1/8th the price?Or be a man and step up to the big leagues and go 7-8 psi kits

    It comes down to money and reliability. I personaly dont trust the reliability of an NA stroked motor and with the supercharger options currently available it just isn't worth it.

    If someday i go crazy, i will get a stroker kit, some headworks, and nitrous on top. To me that's the perfect package.

    Stroker is way more reliable than supercharger. BMW use stroked based S65 for Z4 GT3 not a SC'd one. If it wasn't reliable, they wouldn't stroke the engine from 4.0 to 4.4

    We do Click here to enlarge If you look at my facebook page, the cover is a stroker S65 on out

    IMO, people rarely if never cross shop s/c kits and stroker kits. $ per HP is never mentioned by those looking for a stroker kit. Many often have sc street cars etc. The stroker kits usually go to guys like this who run hill climb, road course etc. This guy also has a VF supercharged S65 street car Click here to enlarge

    I will eventually, no doubt Click here to enlarge

    The step by step documentation rarely works. There are billion factors that can slow a build (budget, payment, change of plans, parts availability, issues, etc etc) I will wait till it's all done to post.

    That makes sense especially from a company standpoint. As an individual I post step by step updates.
