I don't get how they feel the new engine will get anything from the S65. Other than it being a big piece of metal with lots of smaller metal bits moving about within.
yeah. If it's a I6 then it can't share things with a V8. Unless they go crazy and separate V8's banks, put the banks in a row and cut 2 cylinders of it. Last time i heard such crazyness was from Ford making a V12 out of 2 V8's.

Well, the second roots for the M3, but definitely the roots for the M in general since the M1 had the I6. Leaving the whole NA vs turbo debate aside... Click here to enlarge

Just propaganda to try to create a link to the previous generation and the high revving motors. It's a joke for anyone with common sense.

The roots are a 4 cylinder and a car built for DTM racing.

I think it still does not!

Because currently too many contradictory statements!
On the one hand, says the CEO of USA (Ludwig Willisch) at the precise moment that it is a i6, when the rumors about the V6 and more will come back to numbers.
But officially or directly from BMW M GmbH is not a statement. Instead, employees are encouraged, in conjunction with the F80, the letter "R" (German for inline) and "V" may not be used.
In addition to increased security precautions on.

Moreover, it was already semi-officially announced:
Concept car shown in Geneva 2013, presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013. Of these, now suddenly no one wants to know something.
Not even the advertising department is been informed and there is usually 18 months before the presentation started preparing the car.
In this respect, there are only two possibilities:
First The car is not yet shown at the IAA, or
Second You try to keep something secret for so long as there is any.

Problem currently is that all M-employees have received a massive muzzle missed, especially when it comes to the big engine is the silence!
Yes but you know someone who knows someone who knows someone around again ...
Asked about the 3.2 i6 is only to hear:
"It is to have some give and the M340i is significantly different from the M135i and 335i-especially when the engine!"

When asked about the M3, but the silence is great again!
