    Ariel Atom with 650 hp.

Honda K20 on 20 psi boost. Sounds good.

Notice though, boost kicks in rather late. I'm sure it is fast but the lag will kill the lap times.

You wouldn't even really accelerate. You would just warp from corner to corner.

it did seem that way. but there was no reference for rpm. for all we know this thing could be turning 10k and he was just playing with the torque. that's why i mentioned a pro driver. but yeah it does seem laggy without an rpm reference.

True he could have just been under revving it to get a feel. Look at the trees accelerate when you hear the spool up, it must feel like a missle.

He was short shifting. Never hit the rev limit either it seems. Massive acceleration for sure. On a track, where he wouldn't have to be so cautious, he would be in and out of boost much quicker.

It seems he liked to feel it spool up and hit from lower RPM. I like to play with turbos and make them lag purposely too sometimes. Love the torque wave. Click here to enlarge

Yea he must have just been toying with it, he wasnt really getting on it. It seems scary to get on the power in that car. thing weighs 1200 lbs? Thats 1 hp for every 2 lbs.

That would be like a 1 series with 1600 hp. Pretty $#@!in scary if you ask me.

What seemed very odd to me, was that the blow off valves would operate BEFORE he would shift? And then of course you would see it fall flat on its face, power wise.

Kinds make the redline worthless, if you have no boost.

Dial it back a touch, or raise the blow off valve pressure. Just a thought.

I don't think it was my friend, because everytime you hear it, you see his helmet move forward, and then he would shift.

    Something is a miss here?

There's no way. The BOV only opens when the throttle blade closes. He could be letting off a bit then shifting. You can't "set" a BOV to a certain pressure. It operates on pressure difference before/after throttle body.

Unless you have some sort of electric bypass valve.

Yeah just watched again and I don't see what you are saying. It lets off boost when he lets off throttle, just like it should. That motor has great volumetric efficiency too, especially with that 20psi of air being crammed through.

At mark 0:47, and again at 1:02, you hear the blow off valve first, and then you see his hand move on the shifter.

I don't know if it is audio delay, or smoe other malfunction, but as is, it sure doesn't look and sound right, IMHO.

Actually, after watching the whole clip, the blow off valve actuates EVERY time before he shifts?

Keep your eyes on his right hand, and you will hear the blow off valve EVERY time BEFORE he shifts.

Something is wrong here? Audio? Video? or wrong set up? Not sureClick here to enlarge

Lol yeah, it doesn't blow off on shift, it blows off on throttle closure, before he shifts...

That is normal for standard turbo cars.

Okay, I have never seen that on an Indy/Champ car, or other race car before, but if you say so I'll go along with it. Just seems strange to me.

Most of my experience is with superchargers, that is some 20+ years, so I guess I learn something new everyday.

Sick find for sure. That think is insanely fast, scary to get in an accident with. For sure a goner in that scenario... The lag is pretty normal I'd say for a 2.0.To have 650 whp it would have to have somethign like a pte6262 or a gt35r at least to put those numbers down. Just amazing at how fast that thing moves, those trees are zooming by once he hits boost its crazy.
