i went to euro MDM yesterday. now, im not a fan of us mdm, and only used it a few times, but there is a definate difference between the 2. depedning on the cost, and how often you use mdm over dsc off, it MAY be worthwhile

    Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.

I never ordered MDM or any package that included it when I got my car. Would MDM provide any benefit for acceleration runs like these 60-130MPH compared to simply having DSC fully off?

Only if traction is an issue with DSC off.

depends. my last 60-130 outing 2 weeks ago, i, as usual had dsc fully off. i nearly went sideways on the hit, and almost went into the next lane with wheelspin on the 2-3 shift. I ran a 10.10. I went straight back to the house, threw on AKH's DR's in an attempt to get get that record i know it has in it, and would have had then. well, due to fitment since im lowered, it hasnt worked out in my favor (rubbing)

anyway, what im trying to say, is after the 24 hours ive had the euro MDM, I think I like it, and will put it to the test saturday against every car there is, and of course, some dsc fully off, to see how it stacks up

    Can you actually confirm this?

Why would the MDM software be different?

He's a good guy, I enjoyed talkin with him.

Euro MDM is somethin i really didnt care for, or to try. but now i think, so far, is the what it should have been in the first place.. but, i dunno, no real background with US mdm to compare to

Ok after researching this a bit it seems the drift angle is changed with the Euro MDM. Maybe US liability concerns are why we have more intrusive software, would not be the first time.

I'm going to make this switch as well.

I normally put DSC completely off when I go circuit racing, but I have tried MDM & it allows some ridiculous angles before it intervenes. And when it does, it is unobtrusive & doesn't kill your momentum.

On standing starts it is better to switch it off, but on a high-powered car like a supercharged M3 it is great when traction is bad. for the 60-130 it works extremely well. It prevents the rears lighting up but keeps the torque & acceleration going.

Here's a video from 5th gear where they illustrate the MDM (euro version) right at the end (from 2:42):

Ooops, I guess I used the wrong emoticon. Definitely no sarcasm!! When I ordered my car, I never really looked into MDM since I did not want a single option except for the DCT and Speed Cloth. So it's pretty cool to read a little bit about the difference between US and Euro MDM.
