Not too big of a deal, glad you identified the culprit and that it happened before the warranty ran out.

It took the dealer a while to figure it all out.
Now that I got no more warranty, Renntech should be first on the list.

well its commonly argued that the M heritage is high revving NA motors which are designed from the ground up as an S engine for the M cars. Now they are modifying standard motors throwing bigger turbos and diff manifolds on them (f10 m5) and calling them S engines. Or 1m which just uses the same motor...

imo i like the cost per hp factor with stock turbo cars that are street driven, M or not... but if you are buying an M to take on the road coarse or simply go out and enjoy a high revving intoxicating exhaust note the new M motors do not give back to their owners as well as the older M motors/cars do. (over heating being one main concern)

i agree and disagree at the same time. I owned a E39 M5 and did not think much of it. Not enough torque and very hard to get more power from it. This thing, although turbo'd loves to rev and sounds awesome doing so. Changes gear at 7200rpm is still pretty revie in nature and having turbos there is scope for more power. One the down side, due to the turbos kicking in the flaming thing does nothing but spin the rears up all the time. I do love it though. Drive fast and lazy or drive fast mental it loves doing both

    Well, not so fast.

Limp mode again, engine malfunction message yesterday.
24 hrs later the dealer still can't figure it out.

    update

Got the car back on Wed night.
Drove around on Thursday all day, no problem.
Friday maybe 3 miles away from home on the freeway (no more than 65mph) I heard a loud woosh sound (as if a tire blew up... some sort of pressure was suddenly released).
Immediately the car went into limp mode, warning lights all over the dashboard. Got it safely off the freeway and towed it to the dealer.

    yes and no
    It didn't really blow up.
I got my car back today. It doesn't shake anymore.

Apparently one of the hoses came loose.

The dealer did asked me to get the OEM i/c so they can put back on the car. I finally talked them into replacing the hose that came out.

CX Racing provided excellent customer service. Got some hoses from them and took them to the dealer.
For some weird reason the shop foreman said he could not fit them on the car...
Convinced them to just set the old one back in place and I would take the car to the shop which performed the fitting of the aftermarket i/c on my car.

The i/c had oil in it and all the work performed by the dealer, in which they replaced a turbo had to have something to do with it coming out.

I drove the car for more than a year without any kind of problem with this i/c.
Two days later after I got my car back from the dealer it all came loose. Too big of a coincidence to just ignore.

They said it will come out again because of the cone shaped metal tube which it is attached to. I cannot confirm or deny this statement.
I will take it to the shop and have it tinkered with. I tend not to believe much of what the dealer guys said. I think they messed up with the car way too much.

I believe so dixy they F up with your car. They're looking to void your warranty, the only warranty voided here is your IC because you changed it but!!! according to Magnusson-Moss Act your car is protected cause your IC performs equal or better than OEM

Drove in manual mode today, so I can keep the RPM low (low turbo pressure in the system) for about a mile and I got the limp mode and engine malfunction message again.

I got no clue what is going on with it.
Monday I will have to tow it to a shop and have the i/c fixed, then take it back to the dealer to have the error codes cleared.
    That's the plan for now.

Took the car to the shop today (the place where I had the i/c on my car initially).
The guy there said everything was very loose. he was able to pull the hoses out by hand without loosening the bolts and one hose was completely contorted, mounted the wrong way.
So my fear was vindicated about the dealer messing it up.

On the way there (I drove it no more than 1800 RPM max) I got the DPF message on my display and the service engine soon light along with engine malfunction-reduce power message.

I have to take it back to the dealer and reset the ECU codes.
Maybe this time it really is the DPF as I suspected a while back, which they said it was all clear. Whatever!

At this point I think I got a lemon.
This story is becoming boring already.
Picked up the car today from the shop and saw the mess the dealer did with the i/c.

CXRacing has great customer service. I only got good things to say about them. The dealer not so much.

Went there this morning to have the "Service Engine Soon" light. They did it in 5 min.
Drove less then 5 miles and the light came back on.
Car is at the dealer again.

The good thing is that for the past month I have been driving some new 3 series. Today I got a really sweet 428i. I really like this car.
The steering on all these cars is so easy, the wind can turn the wheel. Mine requires some great effort compared to F3x cars.
I think I will leave the diesel somewhere in the sunset. Got way too frustrated with it.

Just got a call from the dealer. It is the "back up pressure sensor", whatever that is. No other details, just that it would cost $361 to replace.

Is it just my car, or are all BMW's crap once they go over the warranty period?
I don't see how I could stay loyal to this brand. At this point my wife wants nothing to do with BMW.
