The possibility does exist but like you stated w/o a temp log we cannot determine it will or not affect the car

When did Helix start making an i/c that fits the d?

Looking at the pictures I get the idea that it may be an easy job to install it. It seems to be made out of the OEM piece with an added core in front.
I really don't think the added thickness would bring any benefit to the whole cooling effect. I don't like the design.

It is not an OEM piece with an added core. It was designed from scratch to fit in the d's factory location. The design itself has already been proven on the 335i.

it simply looks too big, deep in this case. I'm not sure how the flow of air can go through all that metal.

The air gets through it just fine. You can take a look at the 335i info here: http://www.wagner-tuning.de/EN/produ...uehler_eng.php

Renntech changed the power/torque numbers recently. The new ones seem to be more realistic in my opinion.
    346 HP / 480 TQ
The initial ones were 356 HP/ 495 TQ if I remember correctly.

I just finished reading through this whole thread. Glad to see an IC being developed for our D's. I think I read somewhere in the thread that you guys needed someone from the west coast for test fitments and stuff like that. I looked up CX-Racing and it appears that they are located in El Monte which is close by to me. If I can be of assistance feel free to let me know.

check out the posts and picture on page 6.
At this point we got two sources (that I know of) for IC's.
One of them works great. Click here to enlarge

Is there any new information on the guy's car that installed the Wagner IC? I read his car went into limp mode, but last reports were it was unclear what caused it. It sounds to coincidental not to be related considering he just had the IC installed.

Got the CAI and Intercooler installed and running for almost 2 months. the X5 runs a lot more better, the truck feels a lot more "lighter" and quicker when launching, top end power is very solid too. also increases fuel mileage from 21.7 to 22.3mpg.

Chris your talking about Matt the Doctor from Germany, contact DieselDiner aka 62Lincoln he speaks to him frequently. Also, I am NOT aware of this issue as of late otherwise DieselDiner would of informed me. Sorry I just read the post reread what GreekboyD and 335d(Matt) are talking about i think its a carbon buildup in the intake manifold as I understand it. I had my SES come up, I will open a thread on this later on ok

Chris, I haven't heard anything beyond what he posted. I wonder the same thing about the i/c, but I think the only thing that could happen would be if he had a poor connection (doubt it) or if the red hose on the passenger side is failing. There are some accounts of the red hose failing that read very similar to what Matt described. But - there's no way to assess it on the internet, so I hope he gets the codes read, and then lets us know what he is told. That code he mentioned (can't recall the exact wording) could mean any number of things, so the only thing to do is to get his car read, and go from there.

I sent Wagner an e-mail to see if perhaps they heard anything - apparently not, but Carsten said he would follow up with 335d Wagon.

    Here's his response....

    Hello Chris,

The best for him would be to check the codes at a BMW Dealership or so.
He has a Tune on the Car, so maybe due the increased Flow, the car has reached the torquelimiter and goes into Limp mode.
I will shoot him an Email

mit freundlichen Grüßen / best Regards

    Carsten Wagner
