    It's not a heart breaker.

It's the idiots who don't know how to use them! OR it's the idiots who don't train people properly to use them.

Also, dyno RPM calibration is completely mickey mouse.

Isn't there another tuner or reseller shouting about their results from this dyno?
Yup there is definitely a tuner who either owns that dyno or uses it to tune cars. He has dyno'd quite a few cars that you tuned. That said tuner will be doing the AlphaN tune for another E46 M3 I know of.

Yeah I hear he's a good tuner, although I haven't seen too much of his work. I just wish he'd use Shoot Out Mode on his dynos.

Agreed! I'm not the biggest fan of people manipulating correction factors to get it to read like a dynojet. I believe this is what helps perpetuate people to forget that it's the delta and gain that matters, not final numbers.

    Wow just saw this thread.

I have to give you credit for for doing before and after gain's,and not being caught up in just a number.

thanks. its all in good fun, but if i can provide realistic (key term) feedback on what to expect, for things im going to do anyway, and at little to no cost, i might as well do it, right..

yes, R/T tuning on the 17th. I have an hour scheduled. Seeing as it takes 5 minutes to go from tuned, back to stock, it shouldnt be an issue (updating to latest BMW s/w may take longer though, not sure about that). and with hot lapping the way its supposed to be, we should be able to see the adaptation process in near real-time

Sounds good man, I like there dynojet or should I say dynojet's in particular because there calibrated from the factory.

    Jake,

ours was bought 6 years ago. It started life as a windows based one and has been upgraded a few times.

Did you upgrade from a DOS based version?

    Hey Steve,

Make sure you allow the stock tune to adapt. That means a few driving cycles.

The stock tune can never achieve the same power as when it is first flashed. It will hit it's factory ignition targets when first flashed.

These cars don't really respond to corrections much so you can set the correction to 1.00 on any dyno and do a fully adapted before and after and get a reasonably accurate gain.

The main point being that you want to see a trend in power gain.

While your doing all of this it is important to measure all of variables to make sure everything is as consistent as possible.

Of course. I know your very specific about what needs to happen when trying to do dyno testing. If I have to extend for another hour 2 to get accurate feedback, im all for it. Additionally, the adaptations once flashed are what im going to try and show. I believe whats expected is the car to hit higher #s at first and then lower as it adapts, is that correct? basically ill keep going until it bottoms out. and all logged with the BT tool.

Now that the ESS S/C has been sold, I should be able to give another review of what its like to be N/A again, maybe with more dyno's, 60-130 and 1/4 times again before the car gets traded in.

Be interesting to see how the M performs with the Evolve tune & DEFIV stuff (assuming that's still installed) against your old times.
