    Evolve dyno

Went to Eurofest today and had a great time with a few members here, and a lots of other enthusiasts.

So, it turns out we were early, and noone had signed up for the dyno yet, so I did.

Mobil Dyno Dynamics, they said they correct it to DJ #'s though. I think thats a mistake, but whatever, it was just for fun and we were bored as everyone was setting up..

As it turns out, some people did sign up, so we waited a while.. but again, for fun and only $50.

    393, 398, and 400
    only graph they gave me:

    and the video to match

I think it had more in it, as it never fully revved out, but whatever..

also, a 1M with catless DP's/ catless exhaust, no tune laid down:

I have a real dyno session planed shortly to show the actual diference though, and of course, real world performance to back it all up

sick numbers they look pretty accurate but slightly higher............seemed like a good dyno to get some glory runs on - I was so anxious to get a run in and literally 15 minutes after I left the guy called me and told me it was my turn.....smh

Throw on a DJ. Dos DD's you can input any correction factor at anytime.

I really would like to see how high those numbers would be on this dyno - as you said, looks like they stopped way short of redline. You had another 1000 RPM of power in that graph. I would say 415-30ish?

Did they give you the correction factory they used

    1.15?

    1.20?

    350whpx1.20 = 420whp

looks like they didnt even set the tacho right, runs should start at 2500 end at 8400rpm. Noobs!

Definitely noobs, they seemed to be having so issues with everyone's runs. I believe the correction factor was ~1.12 (~12%), someone else in who was at EF correct me if I'm wrong.

no idea, i though i was getting it on tape, but apparantly not. i saw a box with 3 choices pop up and i watched the runs before and after mine, there were no similarities in what they picked from run-run and car-car.. from what i saw. like i said, im not putting much faith in it, just general information

also, how do tires affect the car?

my 19's are 10 mph or so off (speedo reads high), verified by vbox and the DJ dyno before. i put AKH's drag wheel on today and drove and it was spot on with the vbox...

First of all, good numbers but I'm not a fan of corrected dyno dynamics. I like to see it in shootout mode but it is what it is.

This seems like a good event.

I want to see your before and after on a dynojet.

    No correction information.

    Scrap.

No way can that car make that amount of RWHP.

Also, dyno RPM calibration is completely mickey mouse.

Isn't there another tuner or reseller shouting about their results from this dyno?

I haven't seen anyone trying to use this specific dyno from eurofest, but I could be wrong
Like I said, I only did it for entertainment. I'll have real quantitative data soon

Too funny.....gotta love those guys who wanna show high numbers. (also why we always run our DD in shootout mode)

I actually know one tuner who runs his in house DD with that correction, but he doesn't tell anyone. We actually got that information from DD themselves!!! Sad really....

I blame people's stupidity in not being able to understand why a DD does not read like a dynojet.

I remember reading somewhere, DD yearly inspects shops to give them shootout accreditation. If the shops are found to be messing with the settings, they can lose the accreditation.

agreed.....there is a lot of that around. I wouldn't want another dyno besides the DD we have..

correct! The nice thing is on the newer untis shootout mode is a no brainer as it reads the weather station data etc automatically...

Shootout mode in the newer digital machines reads like a dynojet.

A stock E92 M3 on the one we use makes about 280-285whp!
    In shootout makes 330whp.

We show customers both. A true mustang/DD with no juice in it is PAINFUL. A 414hp car barely making 285whp.

Not really you can do alot. Can put the inlet air temp prob in an open air intake or somewhere hot and do a few pulls - correction goes up. If there is a will there is a way. But yes shootout mode does gray out some variables the normal power (NS) mode allows you to fiddle with.

Yes, because the ramp rate is too slow outside of shootout mode. You end up over loading the engine and the torque calculations do not allow any ignition timing.

Shoot out mode gives you a much more realistic ramp rate and therefore naturally the engine will be allowed to make more power.

Shootout mode on both DOS based and Windows is EXACTLY the same. We have the newer digital machine and a close friend has the DOS based one, they read exactly the same.

285whp is the completely wrong reading and should be ignored. You must test in shoot out mode and the only reason to do anything outside of this is for mapping only to simulate very harsh conditions.

The Dyno Dynamics is really an excellent machine once operators are properly trained.

The single biggest problem is operators almost out right refusing to post correction factors! Using the wrong gear, inconsistent strapping.... the whole dyno dynamics scene is a total sham.

Cheating is also a big problem with these machines but it's easy to catch people.

I would not count on the weather station too much. Same as any dyno really. Some cars just do not respond to SAE corrections like they should.
