    BEST N54 DCT 60' Ever !

RENNtech DCT 335is does 1.900 flat 60' with a 12.14 ET. Will be testing the aFe Stage 2 "sealed" cold air intake (54-82002) next week. To make it even more interesting, at the PBIR track tonight there was 10-15 MPH down gust winds, sea level, 75 temps.

Again, no meth, no DRs, no DPs, no deletes, no weight reduction. The only mods are what you see in my sig. DPs will come right after my review on the aFe stage 2 sealed CAI

What's the pump gas only 1/4 mile record? You have to be close. What tires did you get again?

Dont know what the 1/4 mile record on pump gas is, never knew it was a rarity...........I am using Nitto NT 555 tires 275/30/19 for the rear.

I just went through the 1/4 list on this site. Looks like you do in fact have the record! Without DP's nonetheless.

what's the big deal with launching a DCT? Didn't VAC launch their M3 DCT and got a 1.6x sec 60'?

    Great run nonetheless, 11s with a 1.8sec 60'

its the Launch Control. I personally havent tried it. Hankooks are $#@! for straightline, but if you have sticky tires, i dont see why it wont kick ass

We've had a customer report 1.6s with an N55 DCT, but he doesn't have a posi and it isn't very consistent. I've always run in the 1.9 range myself the few times I've taken our N55 out to Famoso. Just as a reference for performance our old 2007 335i steptronic ran 12.0@117 at Famoso with a 1.8 60' time with no mods other than the tune, although I think we may have had a DCI on it at the time. But OEM downpipes, intercooler, exhaust, etc. That was with a very outdated JB3 system as well. So it sounds like you're right where you should be with the 115mph.

Is the dct in the 335is the exact same dct thats in the m3? Does the m3 dct have different options, modes? I know the smg m3's had 6 different sport settings on how hard/fast it would shift. The 2009 z4 35s I test drove just had three options, drive, sport, sport with no traction control.

Thank for the heads up on this. I went to search drag times and yes there are about 3 DCT M3 that are doing 1.8 60'

I should have figured this since the M3 has 3 different RPM settings for using LC. The N54 and N55 only have one RPM setting for LC.

My technique of using LC is invasive.

I have changed the title of the post

Yes......Yes- more options than the DCT N54 and N55

I have seen your 60' times on that DCT N55 but it was done with DRs.

If I remember correctly, you had DCI and the temps were ? Just currious....

The torque sensor on the DCT N54 will cut power if there is too much stress on the drive shafts. The LC was designed to handle launches at 5k RPMs with the BMW stock tune with less torque.

So if the tires are too sticky, with limited wheel spin power will get cut. There has to be some sort of wheel spin on the DCT N54 inorder for LC @ 5k RPMS to work correctly with an after market tune.

After changing tires to Nitto NT 555 power is always cut when trying to use LC at 5k RPMs. So I had to use an invasive technique

That was years ago at Famoso raceway. I think low 70s? Yes I'm fairly sure it had a DCI and the JB3, and the tires were 555Rs, but didn't have an intercooler, downpipes, exhaust, etc. I think Hotrod actually went 11.8@118 in his tune only using the OEM airbox with similar tires. That was the good old days before meth when we thought running 12s was pretty quick. Wait until you start getting in to meth... You'll never look back. Click here to enlarge

The DCT Mechatronic or controler needs to be modified from what I understand. It cannot be accesses through the DME. It has to be pulled and entered new variables for the LC ie lowering the launch RPMs etc. I will mess with that part when doing a clutch pack upgrade in the future.
