335d: DTUK CRD-T Vs. JBD box?

It seems the DTUK-T is a better option as it is a two channel system controlling fuel throughput as well as turbo boost. DTUK is manufactured by DTE in germany which has years of diesel tuning experience for multiple auto manufacturers. JBD only controls fuel, does not control turbo boost, and JBD makes only one module for this one engine.

I could be wrong, please enlighten me. I have been considering buying both myself.

Wow. Nice contribution. You come in a forum asking for help - but don't provide any yourself?

Yep, it's definitely not the DTUK of search engines.

Please, tell me more about DTUK as I'm trying to learn about them. Not by going to Google, through member experiences.

I have the DTUK tune, and it's the one I use 99% of the time. Click here to enlarge

I dealt with Andrew there, and he was very knowledgeable and helpful over the course of the evaluation.

Ronin, thanks so much for responding. You are the only person I could identify on the forums who has tried all(?) the tuning boxes for the 335d. I think your opinion holds some weight on this topic.

I'm going to buy the DTUK tune now.

Have you by chance dyno'd it? How would you compare it to the other options in character?

I believe he dyno'd and he provided a ton of feedback.

Really? I've searched a few times and can not find any dyno info...am I doing something wrong on the search?

I thought he posted his own dyno (@Ronin) but look in here for some more info: http://www.germanboost.com/showthrea...d-X5-35D-tunes

I've been using the DTUK CRD-T 2-channel box for my 2011 335d now for a couple weeks. Really loving it. I am using Map 1, varying between the +10% and +20% settings, feeling which I like better. The performance increase has been HUGE. The turbo lag is 90% gone, and power output is much higher. I have not yet dyno'd the car. Subjectively, it seems the power has been boosted 30%. Responsiveness of the engine and throttle has been improved 70%.

I have tried the other maps but prefer Map 1.

I have not paid attention to fuel efficiency as I don't really care as long as I am over 20mpg.

Based on the information I was given, Map 4 is actually a better way to go. Check the documentation they gave you, and the ramp ups for each of them, and I think you'll find that Map 4 is more exciting for you (I talked with Andrew extensively about this, and it's the same map he runs, as well). I've been able to run at 30%, on occasion, but when it gets warmer, it triggers limp pretty quickly.

Not telling you what Map to run, per se, just giving you some alternate perspective.

As far as gas mileage is concerned, check out my Fuelly and you'll see it definitely hasn't hindered mine:

Thanks Ronin, I value your opinion. Andrew gave me the ramp printouts, graphing fuel and turbo boost, and on my CRD-T, Map 4 is only increased fuel, and mild at that. No turbo boost. Map one has significantly increased fuel, and also adds turbo boost. It appears you and I may have different maps for our cars?

I wonder if this is the case. I know you've been running your CRD-T much longer than I have with more experience with it.

Remember, more fuel will generate more power, too. Adjusting just the boost won't give you the same amount of power as adjusting the boost and the fuel.

As it turns out, I popped my hood up this morning, and realized I've been running Map 3 (I think before I put it on last, I was doing some differentials between the maps) @ 10%. I swapped it out to Map 4, started at 10%, shifted to 20%, and now it's sitting at 30% (changed it when I got to work, so I'm not sure how 30% is going to run today...temps are going to be in the high 70's).

Ronin, I called Andrew at DTUK today, and he suspects that you and I have our Maps in a different order on the box.

BTW, for anybody considering buying a DTUK CRD-T, Andrew is great and gives top notch support.

Sounds like DTUK is a good option. Let them know advertising on BimmerBoost might not be a bad idea as we have a dedicated diesel section.

They're not even reflected as a vendor on E90, tbh.

Never really gotten into a conversation with him about it. Maybe he feels it's not necessary. Word of mouth seems to be enough for him.
