What are the changes the Earth is undergoing?

Man has been around for many thousands of years.

Man has only recorded history for a small portion of his existance.

Man has developed very advanced technology for yet an even smaller portion of his existance.

The Earth undergoes 'cycles' that take many thousands of years, at some point one of these cycles will overlap with the existance of our technology which depends on the current state that the earth is in, and humans have no foreseen any consequences of any changes to the earths magnetic fields, polar shift, etc... Humans are smart, yet stupid.

Just laying out the facts people.

Great post. The hot topic right now is Global Warming; something I do not buy into. You hit the nail on the head and echo my thoughts...the earth has been around for millions of years. We as humans take a 100 year "look" at climate data and see that the polar ice has been receding for the last 50 years or so; all of a sudden we surmise that global warming must be occuring. Sorry but that is flawed in my opinion. That would be like spending one day in the average life (80 years...?) of a human being and after looking at that one day, draw some conclusions about that person and how he lived, what he did, what he was like etc...IMO since the earth has been around for millions of years, a 100 year window studying climate data means nothing...other than how our climate has been the past 100 years.

PS> Didn't watch the posted videos; can't get them running here at work. If my post is completely OT and out of left field based on what the vids show...that's why.

You are perfectly on topic. Although you should watch the videos, they are interesting. I think that sometimes what scientists see and what they try to predict from what they see are two different things. The earth will do what it wants, and right now it is undergoing some serious changes, which it does every 500,000 years or so.

Pole shift is a normal occurance for planets.

Magnetic field reversal is normal for planets.

These normal things happen every half a million years, human just happen to be at the pinnacle of technology where we are starting to understand these cycles and the repercussions they have on modern society (cell phones, satellites, power plants, etc.. will all be knocked out during the shift cycles).

There are a few reasons why we have never heard of these things before.

    1. Human beings werent around long enough or
    2. When we were around we were still living in caves and couldnt write down what we saw or
    3. We didnt need to write down what we saw because we didnt know it was happening because we didnt have cell phones that shut down (meaning whether or not a compass points true north doesnt matter to a cave man) or
    4. we did write down what we saw but didnt really know how to describe it

Either way, it's happening whether we like it or not.

Theres nothing wrong with keeping a vault with the worlds seeds in it. I would pay some in taxes for that, gladly.

If they are distributed fairly/planted and harvested efficiently, which I highly doubt would ever be possible due to current Human Nature.

What funny is that everyone concerns about this global change 2 much, we all gonna die one day anyways even if the Poles don't shift, so enjoy the beauty of life while you can.
If you ask me i wanna see human race disappear from this planet.

As we all know, the people at NASA are a bunch of crackpots, and anything they put out is debunked, but look at this:http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/fea...012-guest.htmlMaybe they are part of the conspiracy, and maybe they know something we don't, or are covering up the truth.. I don't know... Everyone has theories just like they have $#@!s...

Technically the world ends for a person when they die (unless they are a zombie). So if you die tomorrow, you just had your own personal apocalypse..

It takes thousands and thousands of years for these poles to shift.

Magnetic north can shift in a matter of months or just a few years.

I know but I'm saying before it gets to the point they shift doesn't it take 10's of thousands of years? It isn't just random.

We already are at that point, the magnetic field of the earth is reversing as we speak. We are long overdue, scientists know very well that magnetic field reversals are supposed to take place every 500k years or so, the last one was 780k years ago so we are long overdue.

The cataclysmic pole shift hypothesis suggests that there have been geologically rapid shifts in the relative positions of the modern-day geographic locations of the poles and the axis of rotation of the Earth, creating calamities such as floods and tectonic events.[1]
No form of the hypothesis is accepted amongst the general scientific community.[citation needed] There is evidence of precession and changes in axial tilt, but this change is on much longer time-scales and does not involve relative motion of the spin axis with respect to the planet.[citation needed] However, in what is known as true polar wander, the solid Earth can rotate with respect to a fixed spin axis. Research shows that during the last 200 million years a total true polar wander of some 30 has occurred, but that no super-rapid shifts in the Earth's pole were found during this period.[2] A characteristic rate of true polar wander is 1 per million years or less.[3] Between approximately 790 and 810 million years ago, when the supercontinent Rodinia existed, two geologically-rapid phases of true polar wander may have occurred. In each of these, the Earth rotated ~55.[4]

It will do nothing to communications because satellites can readjust and they do so on daily basis.
The only thing that can knock down communications is a very large Solar flare which is more likely than a polar shift.

Look up, Magnetic pole reversal. Not physical pole shift, we know that takes a long time. The earths mag field is weakening.

If earths magnetic shield weakens solar flares will fry us all.

Yea I didnt know this. And thats what makes it a little scary, most people dont know either, that the earths magnetic field protects us from solar flares that would destroy life.

We had a large flare last night that knocked down some communications you will be able to see it tonight as it hits the earths magnetic field.
The problem is if there is a large enough flare our magnetic shield wont do $#@! and we are going to be microwaved from inside out.

Watch this when you have the time.
