    Cammed S65?

It seems Schrick has had them for years now, but I've never heard of a installed one. Has someone done it? Gains aside, it worth just for the sound IMO. And also anyone know the specs on the cams BMW use in GT3 Z4's S65?

    Haven't seen anyone running these.

The GT3 Z4 uses an S65 or P series motor?

Anyone actually show any gains with them? Schrick has two sets I believe.

It will require a retune, I wonder who retunes the cars after the install? We know it has been done, the cams are obviously selling.

I haven't seen anyone do a tune on these yet either.

Think there would be anything to gain from a set of Schrick cams with a blown setup?

No.Waste of cams if you put them on a blown motor with low static compression.

High duration cams reduce your dynamic compression (compression that is produced while the engine is rotating and the valves are opening and closing) further, and that is the last thing you want to do to a blown car. You need to stick with the stock cams on that car, if anything, get someone who can tune vanos and 3D Map that $#@! with boost (load), RPM and VE to get yourself a new vanos map for your blower. The only advantage to get from cams is lift, duration should not be going up in your case.

So what about a custom set of cams with more lift?

S65, a cammed one. But BMW doesn't give me the specs on that.

    Thanks.

Wondering if it's like S54, minimum gains with cams or not?

The S65 isn't quite as stressed as the S54.

Not worth the money unless you can get em for a good price. I dont know what the piston to valve clearance currently is stock, first find that out and find out how much it would cost to make high lift cams, and if both those questions get answered then you can move forward.

Forgot to add, piston to valve clearance is directly affected by DURATION, not so much lift. So people need to be aware of that before messing with vanos.

Well then, seems best bet is to throw as much boost at this thing as I can with as big of a blower as I can.

What LM said remembered me that there was like a stroked S65 with aftermarket cams or something. I don't recall correctly though, damn it.

Theres no way to escape the limitations of mother nature. Natural aspiration can only take you so far, and then after that, you need to spend 10x amount of money to get another 2 hp. And that is how Formula racing was born.

But the engineering to get that 2 hp separates the men from the boys.
