Terry, thanks. I will have to hit one of your up.

Why run the N20 sensor on the N55?

No plans for that on the short term. I think it's just a coincidence that the N2O and March, 2011 and later N55 map sensors use the same connector system. At least it looks that way in the photo. We'll find out soon enough!

Both Rob and Nick G hit it on the head. I was actually trying to dig up my BMW book from school on the whole DME thing lol.

Great to see forward strides being made between Terry and Rob. Maybe you guys can come out with some ultimate tune to banish Shiv forever lol

Definitely good to see Rob and Terry working together. Metcalfe's law...things just work better when they're networked.

Glad I got my Cobb, can't wait to see the progress over the next few weeks/months. Especially as it relates to RB tuning.

This is what I like about Cobb. They give an explanation on something and they don't talk down to people. They have a discussion and are respectful and polite. Shiv may be smart, but the members of Team Cobb are brilliant.

I copy pasted what he said about BMW ECU's in S54 turbo on stock DME thread in post #309.

The data is there to help diagnose the issue, so they only put the pertinent info to the specific DTC. The over-rev conditions saves freeze frame data such as time, max rev hit, speed, gear, peddle positions, etc. All things pertinent to helping BMW understand what was going on at the time.

It seems the FASTA thing has been blown out of proportion. There is a good bit of functionality that is not directly linked to FASTA, yet is all read via certain commands. It happens that FASTA reads using some of these commands as does the factory scantool.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers,

BINGO! Spot on! When translating MSD80.ipo file for Inpa, I saw the exact same thing. Unfortunately, I need to figure out how to change the font size in INPA to get those to display because they are off-screen and there is no scrollbar.

To be honest, it's Shiv's way of making sure people buy his tune new and not used. I remember having this argument with him, I believe if the end user sells the tune, the seller won't be bothering Vishnu for support, and support would also be transferred to the new user. He seems to believe his physical box is the same as a custom tune which is locked to the user's car, which it isn't.

Shiv believes his "support" is worth $150.00 to the new user, hence the VIN lock. Pathetic money grab, and I am so very glad Cobb or BMS does not engage in this practice.

I wouldnt say has to, its the prefered method as far as I can tell. AMS uses it on all its Alpha packages and switzer on thier packages, and you would he hard pressed to find anyone faster than those.

I don't think that is correct. Mine's was the first to crack the ECU (3 days after release) and there are numerous other Japanese companies tuning it. Now do any offer a end user installable option?...Not sure, prolly not.
