I'm in Jersey. The torque in the clk would give it an advantage from a stand still, but a highway roll, I really don't see a 5 car difference. Maybe the e46 m3s were driven bad. A 6.0 gto has 400hp/400tq. Beats the clk in both areas. The gto was a fender behind as well.

A CLK550 has a gearing advantage, not just a torque advantage. The cars can do 12's@108 stock. The fastest i've ever seen an E46 M3 go is 13.0@106

Interesting info about the gearing. I had not known that. I'm not saying the e46 m3 is faster than the clk 550. But it seems that all e46 m3s don't perform the same. I have seen in person m3s go into the 12s. I dont see too many clk 550s around to test this out. But the one time I did, I was ahead from a roll.

Sounds cool. But if you are modded, it defeats the point of stock vs stock.

not many mods for a clk550 out there besides ECU reflash, which gives it a little edge over the stock one by about half a car.
Let me know when you are down to run and we can set it up reflashed clk550 and a stock clk550.

That's cool. Not putting my life on the line here. He said he pulls stock M3s by a few cars. So do I.

sunday we are going to captree join us.

The stock CLK550 beat e46 with Autowerks tune, fabspeed headers and supersprint exaust by about 1-2 cars.

    Okay.
It seems all e46 m3s perform different. A buddy of mine has euro headers, air filter, full supersprint exhaust, and epic tune. We did 5 pulls. I pull his car pretty easy. He does shift well. So maybe it's his motor. So like I said, it seems all e46 m3s perform different.

I daily a 6MT TL. Brembos, big sway bars and LSD are standard on the 6MT. Only mod is ASPEC suspension kit.

It's a pretty impressive car (for being FWD) - I bought it lightly used with <20k and I'm at 110k now. Not 1 failure...just brakes/tires/timing belt maintenance - when I bought it, it was the perfect car for my needs. Surprised to see it hang with the E46 M.

Do you plan on modifying it more in the future? How is the ASPEC suspension kit?

My friend has an A spec in Atlanta but it's auto. Very nice factory set-up. If it were mine i'd still want to stiffen up the rear but it's nice/docile for a street car, especially with some actual performance tires (RS3's, RE11's, ADV08's)

The suspension is super soft stock, like rocking back and forth on shifts. With ASPEC it's good for a daily driver with some spirited street driving. Def not aggressive, but good for my needs. I think the Honda V6 is a great engine that has the potential to sound nice, but I've yet to hear one actually sound good. If there is a nice exhaust out there I'd prob go for that. Otherwise I'll prob add wheels and lower it some more. I used to travel a lot with clients so I wanted to keep a stock look and nice ride. I live and work in the city, so driving something really nice daily is pretty risky.

To help pay for law school. Headers, modify to fit, o2 sims + dyno time $$, and he want's bigger results then those offer. Like an airbox or F.I, just to much money and would rather just look fresh. That car has 100k miles and looks brand new

The E46 M3 has gone 12's stock but the CLK550 is definitely the quicker car.

This is true. Very few e46 m3s have done 12s stock and I believe I have one that can do it based off of my last experience at the track with the M.

It can be done but it will take a manual with a hell of a driver.
