Totally. I'm happy with the fact I don't only get erections when inside an E36 though. Makes up for it!

My friend has an EVO 8 with modified stock Turbo and e85 rail/injectors setup. He runs 30psi peak daily on pump e85, no meth.

They are very potent motors, and easy as hell to work on. And yes, those are bolt ons.
Bolt on mods alter what is already there. Turbos and superchargers are power adders and classified as such.

Is nitrous really a bolt on mod as well? Nope.

If he does that might explain the peoples devotion to him. Good point though.

Ya I thought so too reading it over the next day. From time to time it's nice to not have to read every post, move threads, make edits, approve users, check e-mail, write articles, or whatever else, and just have some fun.

Nitrous is a bolt-on mod..... (I'm not talking about sacntioned drag racing classes)

If you BUILD your motor for nitrous, that is obviously different because you are BUILDING your motor....

You have a turbo, you BOLT-ON a bigger turbo, and you gain efficiency? How is that not "bolt-on"?

Either way, a 4g63 Evo wouldn't even need to get off the stock turbo to beat a S65 M3 with some "bolt-on" parts.

Come on, no it isn't. It's a power adder. How can you view nitrous as a bolt on?

It's absolutely ridiculous to take the term bolt on at the basic literal level. Like I said, then a built/crate motor is a bolt on because you bolt it in too.

Yes. If someone swapped in used Ford 5.0 motor to an old Mustang and added headers/intake, I would expect to hear, "Yeah I swapped in a new Ford 5.0 motor with minor bolt-ons".

If you hear the words "crate motor" then you normally wouldn't be asking if it had "bolt-ons", you would just ask about the build.

Oh, so that particular "bolt on" mod is not a bolt on even though it technically bolt's in? But nitrous is?

You don't see that this is a bit absurd?

Power adders are not bolt on mods. A pulley is a bolt on mod. A supercharger isn't.

I understand if you classify it differently. I would definitely consider Nitrous as a power adder. It depends on who you are talking to and whether we are talking Drag Strip rules or just common talk. I know an Evo guy here that changes turbos like once a month on a quest to find the most power on stock block e85. He considers it a "bolt-on" upgrade.

It's no big deal really. Evo's are awesome, M3's are awesome, I think we can both agree on that.

Where I live bolt ons means, intakes/headers/exhausts/throttle boddies/intake manifolds, things of that nature. If you have cams, you says bolt ons and cam, if you have a ported/upgraded blower/turbo, you state it. Nitrous, you state it. Very simple.

Exactly. Some guys here are a bit sneakier though. The modded blower/turbo normally isn't mentioned when it appears stock. Some guys are running meth and call it a "pump gas tune". Sometimes you have to "dig in". Lol just to be careful when someone is so willing to throw money on a race. Click here to enlarge

Of course I agree cars and modding are awesome.

I'm simply defending my position... like I always do.

I don't race for money 99 percent of the time. I can simply look at a car and tell you who is going to win assuming no driver error. Just start the thing and let me hear it idle and im all set, unless you spray, then your an $#@!

I ran a "Goat" (GTO) once that said he just had a bolt-on supercharger. It sounded pretty damn mean, but I've heard really loud NA v8's before that got spanked by my Z. I've even raced a Red "11 second" manual NA GTO and it wasn't a problem. So I said sure, and we agreed on a 60mph roll. He was on drag radials too. (I should have known)

Anyway, we would start at the top of 2nd, I would spool and spin into 3rd, he would just hook and jump like 3-4 cars. From then on I was just following him to about 150mph.

Then later he admited to having modified the bottom end, doing cams (which I noticed anyway), built transmission and about twice the boost I expected him to throw through that motor. It was some really skinny black guy too, I had no idea he actually had that thing setup nice. Low 10 second car for sure.
