Well first I already own the 550 so it's to late to get an M5 and second the M5 won't be anywhere near as strong as if I built my N63. While I agree that the M5 is wayyy better than my 550 for someone like me that would change everything on both motors anyways it makes more sense to get the 550 and bank the 25k in savings towards said build.

Would there be any advantages to keeping the stock compression, but still reinforcing/building the motor?

For a turbo setup you would benefit greatly in response and spool. It would also not take as much boost pressure to make the same power however you will hit detonation limits of your fuel faster.

Weistec keeps the compression up on their built motors for a reason.

Thus requiring a proper fuel set up I'm assuming?

and probably vac's head whenever that comes around.

We're nowhere near the limit of the heads. The S54 is over 1000 on the stock head so that should tell you plenty.

You will need a fuel system if you want to go well past 600 whp. I'm glad I have one.

Has anyone built a supercharged car using the stock compression?

As far as we have done is arrow rods and coated rod bearings with a rotrex at 9psi on stock compression

Not yet it's done about 2000km since rebuild and where it lives the nearest dyno is 1000km. He want to beat the 632whp the other one did so he will be back.

I'll throw this out there but as stated each build is custom. Rebuilding motor (as we speak) to stroked (4.5L), stock compression (could have gone LC but keeping boost low enough for stock fuel system), Gintani, $28,000 +/-. Then supercharger after break-in (not included in price). Soon....

My man! That's a real build right there. You could have just bought my whole package though but I want stroker too damn it. 4.6 with turbos is calling my name.

The turbo so tempting but this build (like most) has been going on a long time. Once I see stable, proven DTC transmission upgrades and fuel systems I could swap out the pistons and rods to LC and up the boost (a pile of cash would help too!).
