    JB4 Meth Dyno Testing

    Hey guys,

While I was at the dyno yesterday I also did a few JB4 only meth runs.

Test car and relevant mods: 2008 135i step, CPE downpipes, CL midpipes, BMS DCI, eBay version "big tom" intercooler, 93 octane, mid 70s in the dyno room.

    1) For the testing I was running a 80/20 meth mixture with a CM10 nozzle, and our new 2/7 alpha firmware.

    2) The richer low end AFR targets are working well on and off meth. We're targeting around 13:1 now down low vs. 14.7:1 down low stock. This is with a 60% enrichment factor. There is plenty of room to go richer but this is the sweet spot for this firmware/mapping.

    3) I used a 65 additive in 4th gear runs which resulted in the back to back 440+whp runs but with a ~2psi under target at redline. I could actually write a paragraph on duty cycles, targets, etc, but long story short just keep in mind on a dynojet doing ~5 second 4th gear runs you will have more of an under target tendency than on the road or a load dyno. Also note on the road I would not run a 65 additive unless you have race gas in the mix.

    4) I've been running a 50 additive around town and boost is always right on target so as a test I did a 5th gear pull which instead of ~5 seconds took around ~10 seconds. A little closer to reality. The result was the highest output and boost back on target. Also glad to see the SLD is working well as the car would otherwise be capped at 130mph. Click here to enlarge

    5) As you can see from the 5th gear runs it does not take a ton of boost to make a lot of power. All you need is 18psi tapering to 15psi at redline to pretty much max things out. Click here to enlarge

Actually mine too, lol. It slips every now and again from the nitrous use back in the day. Seems to be doing OK at the moment those so fingers crossed it stays together for awhile. Click here to enlarge

    Nice numbers, Terry!
What's about RB's? Whether will give an increase HP&TQ?

I think we can at least improve the AFR down low. Drop me an email with your current settings. Click here to enlarge

Looks like Tomaz would like to hold more boozt up top by looking at his target boost...terry can anything be done on the jb4 to run 20-21psi to redline for those RB customers of yours that wish to do so? Even on the 12ohm boost tapers towards ~17.7-17.8psi at redline like what Tomaz's log shows here...more power is on tap for sure if it doesnt taper so early

More duty cycle = more back pressure = more likely stuff blows up all else being equal. But I'm sure we can work something out. Has anyone verified the RBs make more power at 20psi @ 6500rpm vs. 18psi?

Not being a smart ass but its hard to verify for JB4 customers when the tune doesn't allow for it Click here to enlarge i've run more than 19psi to redline and it looks like its making more power...i'll dyno pretty soon...if you look closely at his log or any of my logs with jb4 you'll see even at 6k rpm it doesn't hit more than 19psi...21psi at 6k rpm instead of 19 would definitely make more power...all this obviously makes sense provided there's enough fuel up top to support it

Right, I'm asking if anyone has verified it using any tuning system. LM made around 500rw @ 6500rpm @ 18.5psi @ 12 degrees advance IIRC. I would not assume more boost would make more power at that level but it might. The question becomes how much more and how much more duty cycle does it take to get there.

More DC, because boost leak around meth nozzle. I have found out a crack.
