and rightfully so. I believe Evolve offered better solutions, Customer service and price points in a few markets competing with ess, ie
    E46/E39 M5 / E92 M3-E60 m5 tuning, and now S/C'ers

I am usually fairly reserved on the many forums I post on. When I saw that thread on Bimmerpost, I was so surprised to see someone leak the information. I, too, like others on this board have kept my mouth shut and really trying to be supportive of Evolve. The results that Sal and Evolve have been sharing are very impressive and will be a strong force to reckon with! They have been an amazing company and group of friends to work with as I continue working on my E46 M3.

Other tuning companies should be scared because they have already proven themselves in the Naturally Aspirated realm of tuning. I am very confident that a lot of competitors lost a lot of business since Evolve's introduction into States. There was a day when people thought that competitor's NA tunes for the E46 M3 were only good for 8-10whp and a lot of companies took pride in that. One day, I posted a review of their NA tune on M3Forum and forums went crazy when I posted a back to back dyno of 17whp gains with no adaptation, a crappy 12" fan, and a heat soaked motor after 26 runs. Since then, Evolve has been owning the market for guys who enjoy driving their E46 M3s on the street. This is in addition to the insane work they've been doing with the E60 M5 and E39 M5.

I am glad they are continuing to enter the E90 M3 market with full force. It's absolutely saddening that other people are so quick to judge and quickly start drama and heat on a very humble and honest company that hasn't even had the opportunity to properly announce their own product.

Well, to Evolve, take this situation as a very flattering one because others are probably scared, I'm sure. I have faith that your product will be a true joy to drive on the streets and track...CONSISTENTLY...no fall off in power after a few 60-130 runs...no drop in power after a few glory dynos...but power all day everyday, just like all your other products and tunes. Top quality!

I completely agree with the above being one of the first people to use EVOLVE and to become their DEALER here in BAHRAIN. I am actually looking for an E90 M3 this year and as soon as I get it I would love to get the EVOLVE SC kit as it doesn't come with BS!

No, that's very unlikely. I think it was more to do with the comments made towards Gintani in their thread and then referencing in the one about our kit having a small inadequate blower....NOT

Another contender enters the E9X M3 S65 V8 supercharger ring - Evolve automotive supercharger kit teaser

The reveal of this information did not go exactly as planned as BimmerBoost vendor Evolve automotive wanted the reveal to take place here. Unfortunately, certain competitors got wind of Evolve entering the hotly contested E92 M3 supercharger market and set out to do their typical discrediting of competing products. It is for this reason that Evolve wanted to stay away from any other sites and do their reveal here. The official reveal may have been spoiled somewhat but here are the details on the three upcoming versions of the Evolve supercharger kit.

There will be intercooled and non-intercooled versions. When speaking with Sal from Evolve during development BimmerBoost put emphasis on creating a non-intercooled version. Salman stated that he believes the S65 is extremely temperature sensitive from what he has seen from testing and did not necessarily like the idea. However, BimmerBoost believes an entry level alternative is necessary to what is already on the market. After some debate Evolve decided they will offer a 4-5 psi non-intercooled entry level kit.

All Evolve kits use a Rotrex C38-91 supercharger. This is the largest supercharger in the Rotrex C38 range and it flows 11% more air than the C38-81. The RPM limit on this blower is 90,000 rpm, higher than any S65 V8 kit using a Vortech blower. No other kit features a Rotrex blower.

This is the C38-91 compressor map:

The C38-91 retails alone for $2595.

Sal has made a big point about the cooling when supercharging with this motor. That is why the plenum design is innovative and features a larger volume than competitors. The design of the kit is built around intercooling and not charge cooling.

8 psi is good for the ~625 crank range. Here are dyno graphs at 7.5 psi on pump gas with the Evolve exhaust system:

    Wheels:

Evolve has tested up to 9 psi but believes anything higher than 8 is pushing it on the stock internals with this blower. Production kits will feature 8psi for markets with fuel to support it. Here are graphs at 9 psi:

The kit will be available for export and will be available for 91 octane fuel like what is available in California. The kits for 91 octane fuel will feature about one pound less boost, so 7 psi. Here is a rundown of the currently planned kit offerings and specs:

    Hardware:

    Rotrex C38-91 Kompressor (1100CFM)
Self Contained Lubrication System with separate oil cooler
High Tension Belt System with 270 DegC Belt Wrap
Teflon Coated CNC Machined Billet Aluminium Bracket
Teflon Coated CNC Machined Billet Aluminium Bracket Kompressor Bracket Housing*
Teflon Coated CNC Machined Billet Aluminium Plenum with Optimised Velocity Stacks
Teflon Coated CNC Machined Billet Aluminium Lower Bank 2 VANOS Cover
Aluminium Crank and Water Pump Pulleys
Evolve/ITG High Flow Foam Maxogen Filtration System
8 x Bosch Motorsport Fuel Injectors
Front Mount Air to Air Intercooler
    Boost Hoses
    Silicone Hoses
    Clamps
    Brackets

    Engine Management System:

Calibration optimised both on dyno and road under various weather conditions

    Recalibrated MSS65 DME with optimized
    Fuel
    Ignition
    Torque Calculation
    CAM Timing

Calibrations for 91(US)/95(EUR) + Octane Fuel

    Systems available:

Non Intercooled 500-530HP System @ 5 PSI ---- Not Sure we want to release this yet! This is the one that needs the most amount of testing. Not happy releasing anything non intercooled.
Air to Air Front Mount Intercooled 580-600 HP @ 7 PSI
Air to Air Front Mount Intercooled 600-630 HP @ 8 PSI

(Boost readings are taken at plenum)

(Note – Power will vary and will be heavily dependant upon ambient temperatures as the S65 is very dependant upon combustion temperatures)

*Reduces Stress on Tensioner Pulley and has a secondary function of protecting injury from belt

Below are some additional pictures. Keep in mind the bracket is engineered from high grade 6082 aluminum that will additionally be coated with xylon/teflon. It will be able to handle all the rigors of supercharging without flexing whatsoever. There are no spacers used in the bracket.

There is also no cutting required for the front mount intercooler.

Expect more details in the coming weeks as the kits near completion for production.

    Sticky,

You "launched" this forum by producing the best article to date comparing the new generation of M engines. Everyone had the info at their beck and call, but nobody had put it all together into an elegant and enjoyable to read package.

It doesn't matter that Evolves info is out there in tid-bits in other places.

Do what you did to launch this forum: Blow us away with another benchmark piece.

    It's still there for you....

EDIT: I see you've started above; and that's great. But I know once Sal has this kit dialed in you'll do something spectacular.

You are right, quality is most important above all. It isn't about who does it first, but who does it best.

Someone said earlier (maybe in this thread or another) that EVOLVE were the last to come into the market with this SC application. Well I can tell you from experience that they were the last to come into the market for the E39 M5, E46 M3 and E60 M5 for ECU and Hardware and they have shown they are constantly better than everyone else irrespective of them being last in the Market.

I've known and been in contact with EVOLVE for the last two years and to me it looks like its more to do with them doing things properly. Therefore from their track history you can expect something special on the Supercharger side of things. They work day and night with their tuning and cars.

How do I know? Well Sal for instance wouldn't let me go home when he found out my car was at the dyno while i was doing their tune on a custom project. We finished late into the night and he was there doing remote tuning on my car till it was perfect. Trust me it didn't take him long if it wasn't for the dyno runs to get consistency. My car made 298whp on a dyno jet with 55c+ IATs and major heat soaking due to our weather and using our crappy Euro 95 fuel.

EVOLVE I cant wait to see this kit come out and if I have an E90 M3 this year this kit will be on that car no matter what the minute i get it. Thanks for everything you do for your customers EVOLVE and God Bless.

This looks great. I don't see any reason why anyone would be hesitant to have Evolve or any other player submit another kit to the market. The more, the merrier IMHO.

Also, IMO, all the $#@!ing about another forum in this thread of Evolve's kit release here (I assume that's what this thread is) only takes away from the actual point of the thread. I don't see the reason to persistently relay the drama from another forum to bimmerboost. It's just a distracting waste of time... but that's just my opinion.

this is exciting news! like many have said...the more competition the better for everyone.
just one thing .... im a bit skeptical on the rotrex product line...although the failures ive experienced were much smaller blowers then the one being used in the evolve kit and the failures i experienced were on snowmobiles.

anyway, as far as the dark cloud that is ESS.... i was excited to see ESS make their way to the States. its very sad and disillusioning to see how they've composed their internet presence, and more importantly their customer service (does anyone answer the phone or do you always have to wait for a call back from roman?!?).

Well the $#@!ing is valid as Evolve should be allowed to release their product the way they want to. It shows how others are more interested in hurting their competitors than welcoming the competition.

Notice that nothing like that took place here? Only elsewhere? I think it's valid to point it out and if you knew how hard Evolve worked and how much time everyone spent on this I think you might feel differently.

This certainly is something we have indeed have worked very hard on.

Updates will be coming over the next 3 weeks with plenum design, intercooler pictures and the general layout of the kit and how it will be fitted.

Videos will also be posted of how the car runs and the evil noises it currently makes.

One thing I would like to point out about the CAD drawings and this should show just one of small attentions to detail:

This is a new CNC machined VANOS cover unit. We re-manufactured a brand new one just so we did not have to use spacers on the original one. This adds further structural rigidity to the bracket and belt drive.

The main bracket is made up of 3 pieces and simple things like covering the belt drive. Notice how the bolt holes on the outer cover also include those for the tensioner pulleys so that they are not stressed and last. The whole belt drive system is specifically designed to avoid any kind of belt slip. This is a very important point as belt slip is one of the primary reasons for superchargers over heating and power loss.

Our aim is to make this system look like it belonged there from the factory.

The Rotrex comes with a very good warranty and given we are underspinning it, it will be a very happy with the engine pushed to red line all day long.

Click here to enlarge Now this is true automotive engineering! I love how integrated everything is. I bet this will definitely look like it came 100% from factory.

I always wondered how many exotic car companies and tuners could make incredible kits and power with the Rotrex blower, but not seen in the BMW community. That has clearly changed... Click here to enlarge

That supercharger bracket must have a $#@! ton of modeling, drafting, and machining time in it. hot damn!

Rotrex blowers have been out for a long time. No reason to doubt them. same planetary gear drive system as the hks units. No real 'dyno numbers' performance benefits vs vortech.

It did indeed take alot of modelling.

Wait until you see the final product all Teflon coated and with a brand new C38-91 on there.

As mentioned before, our dyno dynamics numbers are not the same as dynojet numbers.

And, as many have mentioned, it's not all about dyno numbers as we all know how they change with CF's.

I will be going through dyno testing for SC'd cars later.

The car is quick.... very very quick. It is also incredibly smooth and ultra responsive. This is where the Rotrex shows it's colours. Response.

I was out doing some exhaust testing on our development car running non intercooled @ 5 PSi. I got badly caught out going on the gas very hard. I am used to driving high power SC cars and was not expecting the immediacy with this blower vs a slower revving gear driven one.

Immediately toned down the throttle maps after that! Click here to enlarge
