After something like that, I would clean the $#@! off myself and probably never race again. I would think that was a sign of some sort. I'm glad that car stayed together for him!

I used to have a Kirkham Cobra that I ran in VARA out at Willow a lot. I saw quite a few bad crashes out there with some serious injuries...but never this bad - that dude had someone looking out for him that day and is lucky to be alive.

Yes they are VERY snappy! I've experienced it at autocross. The one I was in was one that we had on our Mustang Dyne. It had some Windsor motor (I'm not familiar). It only made 275WHP and somewhere around 330lb-ft, but man that thing would jump from corner to corner!

I love lightweight cars. One of my dream cars is a turbo-charged Lotus Super 7. Or a Shelby Cobra like that but with the new BOSS 302 5.0 motor.

Those little cobras are light and dont need a lot of power to go places. The Windsor motor is the 351 cu-in 9.5" deck version of the 302 cu-in 8.2" deck smallblock 5.0 that ford was famous for. The Windsor motor is a popular swap into mustangs because it can handle strokes and bores to bring it up to 414 with a good aftermarket DART block. Anyway, a motor like that can make 600 hp easily and would be impossible to put that power down in that little car unless you had a really light foot and knew how to drive. It would be a donut machine basically.

Those things are so light and don't need a ton of power to go fast... This guy had a 427 stroker in that thing making well over 600 to the wheels. He is sooo very lucky to be alive, that fiberglass replica leaves a lot to be desired in a crash. That little roll bar helped safe his tail for sure.
    We stay swingin...
