Well the first mistake he made was having a woman give him directions.

I wonder why she does the directions in English?

That driver was very brave and skilled to drive that fast with a mildly panicking co-driver.
The fotograper at 3:56 most likely was killed that day. Very dangerous place to stand.
Was that a deer he nearly missed at 4:30?

I think it was a dog.

Great driver though, it was like he was going in fast forward.

    He needs a better co-driver.

These guys make road course guys look silly. Amazing skills.

I've done a few rally tracks in my STI and if there were trees like that right next to the track I would have crashed into one on the 4th turn. LOL

    My favorite WRC video...

    BAD ASS.

the old rally stuff is the best; no co driver, no driver aids, nada - just raw power and talent.

So much more skill too. You really had to KNOW the track inside and out. It did lead to some pretty spectacular crashes though. LOL

Yeah. Plus the cars at those days made some serious power.

Actually they didn't really they were just very light. It's all about the power to weight ratio. The R5 Turbo Maxi had 345hp.
the serious hp cars of the day were the Can Am cars. Porsche 917 had close to 1600hp and was doing 240mph - in the early 70's LOL.

The driver of the original video is Leszek Kuzaj. Somebody gave a brief explanation of what went on in the video. The reason why the driver takes directions in English is because he had been partnered with English speaking co drivers (Craig Perry being the most recent) and most likely prefers it. Supposedly this was a test run to see how the new co driver would do. Unfortunately for her the mic audio went out and Leszek was unable to hear her anymore so she had to scream the pace notes.

That's some very scary driving, that rally driver is no joke, I've never seen any other kind of racing that looks this scary. I would love to be given a ride in a rally car like that one day.

As long as the car has a FIA roll cage and it's not the Monte Carlo rally I would be very much enjoying myself.
Only when they drive on gravell on mountainroads I would not get in a passenger seat of a rallycar.
I don't scare easy, but sometimes these rallydrivers act like they have a deathwish.
Now reading pace notes at the same time as holding on, that is a different story all together Click here to enlarge
