    Coil Adaption?

I kept getting misfires during WOT in cyl. 1 on any map. I switched out a brand new coil two days ago in cyl. 1 because a friend had an extra brand new on laying around and right away I got another misfire, cyl. 1. Today, I had to pass a car quickly and didn't get a misfire. I went ahead and did a WOT couple more times and everything ran perfect each and every run. My question: Does a new coil take time to adapt to the DME like a tune or modifications or is this an environmental problem, i.e. today was cold and rainy vs two days ago when it was just cold and dry.

So far since two days ago, all I've changed was to a new coil in cyl. 1 and driven 200 miles on a lower boost map. BUT, before when I was getting misfires, it didn't matter the map it was on...everytime WOT equaled in misfire cyl. 1 to limp mode. Thanks in advance.

Is this important? I say this because I don't want any tune bashing of any sorts. Not in for childs play...if imporant, I will post. It's a piggyback.

I do not like to bash tunes at all.
It is just that some tunes are more prone to misfire then others...
But to ask the obvious first (let's get this out of the way)
How old are your spark plugs ( in miles)?

It is important. Piggies and flashes control timing very differently. If youre running the procede agressive maps, it requires your car to be in tip top shape. Any issues that may seem non-existant at stock (or lower boost) levels will be plaguing you with the high boost maps. When was last plug/injector change?

Injectors were replaced during HPFP recall at 40k miles when I bought the car. I don't believe spark plugs were ever replaced. I now have ~66k miles on the car. I'm running JB4. I've replaced ignition coil on cylinder 1 and misfired right after. Today, even with boost in what I call ''aggressive'' areas, no misfire and runs great.

66k miles with the same spark plugs?
Wow. Why would you do that? Never replaced with any service?

Reason being I haven't changed mine, I wasn't having problems...and I was told by my tech that they should be good for about 75k miles. I'll be changing them soon. I already have them waiting on me at an euro tech shop. Sucks not having many euro specialists around where I live. Around here there is american muscle and modified diesels...and your typical ricers.

Anyways, I figure go ahead and replace plugs...but I think it's weird misfire went away.

Sorry to thread jack; but that being said. where can we order plugs online for a reasonable price? getting them from the dealer is an a$$ raping! even after 50% off.

This means you really care for the car since you replace plugs about every 10-15 minutes Click here to enlarge
It may be overkill but at least you know they are always in like new conditions.

I'll get them changed tomorrow if I can get time...I'll keep this updated. I hope it's not excess carbon build up because I believe I read on here a typical cleaning is around ~$700+
