Question Anyone running a 6MT with an LSD and Automatic Gearing?

I'm curious, this will be one of the first purchases for the new year. After all the credit cards are payed off from the holidays. Does anyone run a x35 with a Wavetrac/Qualife LSD and a gearing change from (3.08?) to 3.46? I believe it's possible to get the Automatic gearing on an MT, if I'm not mistaken ER does it. But just wondering on day to day driving; and how that would be. I'll go to the track quite a few times, but it's still my daily.

    Thanks

Hmm, not sure if there's an advantage in taking the 6AT gearing...what don't you like about the 3.08?

Since I'm planning on mostly road course tracking, time trials, all that good stuff. Just wondering if the 3.46 would provide better/faster acceleration out of corners and will allow for better use of 4th gear as well in the long(ish) straights.

Turbo cars love load, personally I wouldn't even consider shorting the gears that much, esp if tuned. Hell if it was up to me I would make them longer

ideally I would love a taller 1st and shorter everything else.. but 1st on Autos is even shorter than MTs..

Thanks for all the feedback guys

4th gear redlines around 126 mph on my auto.. Take that for what it's worth.

depends on tire size. With 19's mine gets to 126, on the 17" k1,130

You mean with automatic final drive. Regardless, stick with the 3.08.

I tried short gears, never again.

Not a very lengthy review, but its all he said...I'm sure you could pm him for more details

I would go for the AT final drive in my manual IF e.g. max acceleration up to 250 km/h was in priority. But the car is relatively quick as is and there is also an interest to have maximum comfort during long distance trips. So the current 3.08 is fine to me. If I really want to go fast it would probably be solved by cloning the proven Dzenno concept.

I've been considering it as well. It's not a huge jump like from 2.73 to 4.56, so I think it would be a good choice, along with LSD. I wish I heard some more indepth info.

I think on the track (road course) is would definitely be a benefit. But, the reason I brought up the question was for daily driven cars as well.. I do track allot, but it's also my daily driver.. so I agree with you, more in-depth info would be awesome.. Click here to enlarge.. but I may just do it and write the lengthly review

I think it would even benefit you at the dragstrip. You have to shift to fourth anyway, so why not be well into the middle of fourth by the end of the quarter mile? I think it would be decent upgrade on a car that doesn't trap in the high 120's. I'm only doing 112, so It should help.

It's a difficult choice even for a car that traps 112. The power on 4th has begun to roll off at such car at 112 on 4th gear with stock MT gearing and the RPM increase of 10% with AT gearing will reduce the power further when crossing the line on 4th. The pulling force on the rear wheels will be better though from 0 to 100+ with the AT gearing so it may still be quicker if the launch grip is rock solid. Just my .02c.

I need to do the math to figure out what the speeds in each gear would be, but according to road and track the car does 107 in 3rd, 142 in 4th, 155@6500 in 5th and same in 6th. It's a bit too much for me, but I think the lower first and second would hurt a little.

I've talked to a couple of people that track their car constantly, and have this setup.. via PMs.. It seems to work really well in the track and ok on the streets, with some drawbacks.. but it seems like it'll be difficult to do in a short time frame, I'll have to hunt down an automatic Diff to do this.. used, not new, they're $$$ new.
