Help! Electrical mystery problem - dealer potentially screwing me for $3000

just reaching out to all who may have had similar issues or experiences with a dealer...

    PART 1 - October 7th
On the way home from work yesterday some strange things happened. It was as if the connection to the battery skipped a beat a few times over the course of the drive. My V1 turned on and off when this happened, i got the "AWD/DTC DISABLED" warning on the iDrive and the time reverted back to "--:--". There were never any hiccups in terms of drivability, only the electrical systems.

I had to stop at a buddy's house to pick something up. Pulled in to the driveway and waited for him to come outside. I went to shut off the car by pressing the start/stop button and as I pressed the button the car just died - as if there was no battery in the trunk. Electrical shut off engine shut off... Key was stuck in the fob-vagina and wouldn't come out. Completely dead.

With the key stuck in the fob-vag i removed the physical key so I could get in to the trunk to check the battery. Walked around back... put the real key in the trunk and twisted and................

BOOM!!! all lights on, car turns back on, everything is fine. I check battery, connections are all sound... Drove home no issues. Check the car this morning, car turns on fine.

    OUTCOME:
They had my car for almost a month (~3.5 weeks). they ended up replacing the wire going from the battery to the front of the car along with the JBE module and a thermostat all for the low price of $2600.

    PART 2
Ive had my car back for a little over a week and guess what... THE SAME EXACT THING I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR HAPPENED AGAIN!!!!!! I feel like I payed them almost $3000 for nothing. Going in tomorrow morning to demand answers...

has anyone dealt with this kind of thing before?

sounds very similar to my situation, I also had some water damage a while ago in the rear by the amp... I told the dealer to investigate further to see if that could have contributed to this issue but they said no... I'm skeptical.

is the battery fresh in the car as well? The whole time display/ DTC light thing reminds me of when batteries in these cars are about to die. Hows the ground contact for the battery?

they at first ruled out an old water leak as the potential issue. now that I'm back in they're going to heavily investigate that. hopefully geico ends up paying for it all

It's really hard to point out exactly what is going on without looking at the car, in this case the alternator/dme relationship would have to be questioned as well as the battery sensor status, ask your service adviser and post the "details" of whatever they are doing.
