800, isn't even pizza. It's like a soup on top of pita bread with some toppings LOL.

    yes

i have a decent home made burger in the fridge ready to re-heat (not microwave, sammich press) soon.. but yeah, threads like these

we have plenty of decent places to eat over here.. but.. not as dense? not so many of them? and the REALLY good places cost an arm and a leg most of the time and require bookings weeks in advance, or are a fair way out of the way (best pizza i've ever had, being in my home town an hours drive away.. Best italian i've had is in noosa, 2 hours drive away...).. other cities (sydney and melbourne mainly) have a lot more GREAT food commonly.. melbourne has a huge greek population (and maltese/italian), so you get just the most spectacular souvlaki on every corner, so you come back up to queensland and have to eat plebian kebabs (not shish-kebabs, the wrap kebabs like souvlaki but worse 99% of the time lol)

we do have great cheap sushi though, some pretty awesome mexican has popped up recently (just.. bossin burritos! nachos made out of potato chips, nom.), plenty of teppanyaki (expensive though!), an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING gyoza bar, and this

You lost me the minute you posted a pie with toppings man...if it needs toppings it isnt that good. The only time I have a topping on my pizza is when i go to a mediocre place in NY or anywhere out of state.

I disagree. I love toppings and if my pizza doesn't have them it's boring. Just cheese and sauce? Meh.

I'm sure your pizza is good but discounting pizza with toppings just because you like it plain is odd.

No... if you are going to compare pies the only way to do it is plain. Toppings are like dumping a bunch of other stuff on top and judging who has the best toppings. The best pizza places in NYC and Long Island will always sell 8000% more plain slices that with toppings because the toppings actually take away from how good it is when done right... 90% of it is the sauce alone

We clearly have our own views on pizza and there is only one way to settle this.

If you're out in SoCal let me know and I'll take you to my favorite pizza place.

When I'm in New York you offer to do the same.

We'll see where things fall after that.

    Deal?

We had a great Pizza place here in Florida called Caesar's of New York, it was owned and run by an older Italian man and his daughter. To go there was always an event because they fought like cats and dogs all day, I have no idea how they could come to work for 20 years, knowing that they would have these epic battles. It was a fairly small place so the customers were right in the middle of all the arguments, although most people did take out.

They made the New York "deep dish" pizzas and more traditional thin crust too. The old man was fine doing whatever was asked to the thin crust pizza but would go crazy if anyone tried to put more than one topping on his deep dish pizza. I recall one night where the daughter took an order for a deep dish all the way and he refused to make it. They fought about it for 10 minutes, screaming back and forth. I think she ended up having to add the additional topping and throwing it into the over because he refused to do it.

I have eaten both types of his pizza and they were both great. It is pretty ignorant to claim that something good becomes garbage when you add a few more ingredients to the mix. I enjoy both types but one of the best ever was one of his deep dish pizzas with several toppings. I called it in to his daughter and had my son pick it up to avoid any potential lecture from the old man.

Sadly, a developer came knocking and the old man sold out. He had to have been over 80 years old anyway.
