Thumbs up NEW PRODUCT - HPF Oil Cooler - 3.5 TIMES LARGER!!!!

Hey Guys was over on E46F and saw this posted by CHRIS AT HPF:

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we are in process of building our HPF Oil Cooler that replaces the factory oil cooler, bolts up in the factory location, connects to the factory oil feed and return lines, is a whopping 3.5 times larger than the factory cooler and has air ducting built into it that brings air up through the cooler since it is often blocked by the front bumper or the intercooler. With the summer coming up and the very hot days ahead, many people will often see their oil temps going to the right of the centerline. This product will be a must buy for those individuals.

We hope to have the first 10 kits ready by the beginning of July, and then 25 kits following that every month. There will be two separate versions, one for supercharged M3's and one for HPF turbo'd M3's. Once we determine all of our costs and get closer to releasing this product, I will post up pricing, pictures and take pre-orders.

I will keep this thread updated with our progress. The oil cooler cores are being built right now.

    Thanks.
    Chris.

I have known about this since summer last year and due to the over load at HPF this is finally going to be done! I cant wait for this as this will help NA or FI M3s here in the Middle-East hot weather to lower oil temps! Click here to enlarge

We are producing an oil cooler kit and an oil cooler scoop for factory oil coolers. I recommend getting the oil cooler kit itself which has it's own ducting.

Most turbo kit customers have the engine temps stay solidly on the centerline or slightly to the left, but oil temps can sometimes go past the centerline. Some supercharged M3's will see both engine and oil temps going past the centerline. Our turbo kits can show a false high oil temp because the location of the oil temp sensor is right where the oil exiting our turbo goes. On warm start this can often show past the centerline but will come down as you drive it. On supercharged M3's, we'll often see half of the radiator shroud removed which drastically effects the manual fans cooling ability. The supercharger also heats up the engine bay since it's right in front. I HIGHLY recommend replacing the factory fan with the Active Autowerke fan for NA, supercharged and turbocharged M3s. The AA fan has a tighter clutch which eliminates the slippage of the fan. We've resolved several overheating issues with cars just by the usage of this fan. For those having higher than normal oil temperatures, I highly recommend this new oil cooler that we're developing.

The Turner kit is a $600 Nascar style oil cooler (what I have) - with a couple of AN lines/fittings marked up to $1,054.90 and provides no mounting hardware or instructions. I got mine to work but had to custom fabricate the mounting brackets and build my own air scoop.

I haven't seen the HPF Oil Cooler System yet, but from what I understand the setup will use the existing oil cooler lines, direct mount in place of the oem cooler with no additional hardware required and include an air scoop that also mounts directly to the car. Wish this was available sooner.

I'm hoping to price ours at between $500-$700 which will be plug-n-play and connect to existing oil feed and return lines. It will include all of the mounting hardware and will have a built in shroud. We'll see. Once we build the first one, I factor in our margin based on ordering in high quantity and that become the price, so I can only ball-park it at this point.

The creation of the cores should be done soon. I hope to have the initial cores in about 2 weeks. After that we will be manufacturing the rest of the oil cooler, welding and polishing. So hopefully we'll have them completed in about 6 weeks.

Yeah but also in the USA because of the bigger capicity it will help FI cars keep their oil temps down or normal and increase safety levels.

    Thumbs up

    UPDATE!

Here is what Chris from HPF posted on E46F:

The cores are here and all of the parts have been designed. We just need to have a few parts machined and then weld it all up.

The HPF oil cooler for the E46 M3 has a core that is 3.5 TIMES LARGER than the factory oil cooler core. It is plug-n-play with the factory oil cooler lines and bolts right in. It works on all E46 M3's that don't have modifications that would otherwise limit the space around the factory oil cooler. It is designed to work on NA M3s, Turbo M3s and Supercharged M3s.

If you have any questions about this product, please email david@horsepowerfreaks.com and he can answer them for you. We are looking at being able to ship these out in 6 weeks. I'll have final pricing for you in the next week.

    Here are some pictures...

Does oil constantly flow through the OEM cooler or is it thermostatically controlled somehow?
