My E92 Winter Projects -- Wrap & Cosmetics

I have about another month or so before I have to take my car off the road for another bitter Calgary winter -- after fighting on ice & snow with a stock RWD 335i last year, I will not be driving the now modded car this year.

So it'll be sitting in the garage for about 5 or 6 months, leaving me lots of time to do cosmetic work with it (and maybe the odd power mod .. although I'm happy with that for now).

I'm going for a glossy look, since everybody and their mother's brother seems to be going for matte right now.

First up, I've decided to go crazy with a wild glossy wrap -- either using the new 1080 film from 3M, Oracal or another brand. I want to go quite loud since my 335i will now be a summer-only vehicle. I plan to accent everything with black (already got glossy black grill on order, and a few other bits).

Check out these quick mock-ups I've done .. help me choose a color :)

For wheels, I'm set on glossy black Forgestar CF5 .. 19" and as fat as I can go on the back tire-wise. I might even do some fender work and tinker with the camber to stuff in some 295's or 305's. I'll be aiming for a decent stance too by installing coilovers and slamming the car a little.

Not sure on which front lip to go with yet, so I've left it stock and put a little Hamann-style lip in there :)

The dark blue looks the best IMO.

I'm thinking either the darker blue or lime green. Going to see some samples this weekend to make a final decision Click here to enlarge

The last color probably only works on Porsche 911's

That blue on the Porsche is very nice .. here's how it'd look: Just have to find a close-matching vinyl film.

Decided on a blue very similar to the porsche blue pictured above.

My cosmetic mods are planned to be as follows:

    1) M3 style carbon hood (wrapped)
    2) M3 style skirts
    3) M3 style front bumper
    4) Gloss black CF5 (19x10 rear, 19x9.5 front)
    5) Suspension to be decided
    6) Black tips to be decided
    7) Entire car wrapped blue, with exception of mirrors
    8) Gloss black grill to match shadowline trim (already installed)
    9) M3 style lip spoiler & ACS roof spoiler (already installed)

Car is going to roll out of my garage totally different next spring Click here to enlarge Benefit of crappy Calgary winter is that I can take my car to pieces without having to rush to put it all back together!

Lots of M3 parts, but I'm not trying to build a M3 rep .. just like the aggressive nose of the M3..

    Wow, nice list there.

Have you thought about going a two-tone wrap? Maybe an overlay for certain areas with the CF vinyl they have? Click here to enlarge

Or just not wrapping certain areas of the carbon parts
