Why is nobody trying out the Schrick Cams?

There definitely is some room for gain with cams on the S65. I definitely would have tried if I was still NA but it seems many people are against cams because of the very minor gains on the E46 M3. The engine sound alone may be worth with the cost of entry Click here to enlarge

    Here is what is available,

    E9X M3 Schrick Camshaft Set (284 Degree) for E90/E92 M3 $2,599.00:

    1 0485E1841-L0 Intake Cam (left) 284/132-74/12.0mm/0.15-6.72mm
    1 0485E1841-R0 Intake Cam (right) 284/132-74/12.0mm/0.15-6.72mm
    1 0485A1841-L0 Exhaust Cam (left) 284/134-86/12.0mm/0.17-5.05mm
    1 0485A1841-R0 Exhaust Cam (right) 284/134-86/12.0mm/0.17-5.05mm

    E9X M3 Schrick Camshaft Set (292 Degree) for E90/E92 M3 $2,799.00:

    1 0485E1921-L0 Intake Cam (left) 292/132-74/12.2mm/0.4mm-7.37mm
    1 0485E1921-R0 Intake Cam (right) 292/132-74/12.2mm/0.4mm-7.37mm

These are definitely something the stroker guys should look into. I also wonder if they would make a different for people who are supercharged?

S65 with a wild set of cams, full bolt on with a small shot of nitrous per throttle body..... *drools*

THAT would be some insane noise.

Not a bad way to go.... and if I was not trying to get stupid power to destroy everything in sight I would go that way. Build a stroker, add direct port nitrous, very aggressive cams, some head work, wow. Tons of fun Click here to enlarge

So you are aiming for "stupid power"? More details!

I don't know if that is necessarily true... the S65 does experience significant drop off past 7800 rpm. Plus, not like Schrick does not know what they are doing. Only way to truly know is for someone to do it though.

I was also wondering the other day why no one has put those in.

Cam installation is very intense on these motors and requires special tools.

I had custom schrick cams built to spec for my supercharged 330, and it made a HUGE difference in performance.

I think cams in the S65 would make quite a screamer.

    We shall see..

Agreed anyone N/A and especially in stroked applications (also cent. supercharged) will benefit from sticks. Now with that being said I don't think I've ever seen a Schrick spec'd set of cams that made power (S85, M113). I think they are better at grinding than picking dimensions. Lift looks fine on these cams, could've gone a touch higher for a more aggressive ramp rate then again there may have been PtV, duration, not so much.

The question I have is would cams that produce nice gains in NA applications make a benefit in a centri setup or would someone want SC specific cams?

When speaking about a 4v the specs are 99% the same, you can easily run a hot N/A set of cams with a centrifugal. LSA means nothing on a 4v. Also remember to spec with the blower in mind, running a cent. raises the powerband (even with stock cams) and the limiting factor will be the trans.

Let's assume someone strokes the S65, even with an sc, the more aggressive shrick cams would be recommended in that case from what I gather from your post, correct?

Yes in any stroker application, or FI application they're going to make more power than stock--the blower will compensate for any mis-spec'd dimensions. Can you have them grind a custom set? If so this would be the way to go.
