Home Audio Gurus: Martin Logan speakers

I'm thinking of picking up a pair of Martin Logan speakers. Does anyone use Martin Logan? Opinions? I haven't ever heard anything negative about the brand, but I wanted to get something personal if possible.

Martin Logans are very nice speakers, I used to sell them way back in the day, but for some reason I always preferred the Vienna Acoustic speakers over them

How much are you willing to spend? I really like the Martin Logan ESLs.

Sound is phenomenal! A bit pricey at $1k a speaker =/

    Which model/s are you considering?

Generally, a good speaker that gives good first impressions (as do most electrostatics), but often gets tiring after one has owned them for a while. Back in my earlier audiophile days, I owned a pair of Sequel 2's. The defined soundstage sweet spot is quite tight and you must be seated in exactly the correct spot to reap the benefits. All electrostatics have the benefit of apparent openess to the entire room, but that does not correlate to the accurate soundstage positioning. They are fairly tolerant to equipment. To the trained ear, these hybrids are not seamless in transition to the lower frequencies. Overall a good speaker for the right price, but certainly not to most audiophile standards. This would be like buying an EVO - aint nothing wrong with that, but there's a lot more out there...though it is truly hard to compete with the vocals of MLs

I don't consider myself an audiophile by any means, but I do know enough to do research before purchasing.

I've been considering upgrading the theater system in the house but can't really see myself enjoying it unless I had a home theater room (contemplating it).

It really depends on the use of the speakears. Are these for 2ch stereo listening, gaming, ht? Also how will they be driven? H/T is good $#@!, a good site to learn a lot from is avsforum.com.
