Helluva accomplishment, no doubt. That said, Sticky: if you consider this a street BMW, what (in your mind) would it take for it to be a race BMW?

I presume you watched the Youtube video of the walk-around. It is missing one-side headlight assembly, had a huge turbo sticking up through the hood, exhaust exiting the front fender, gutted interior, running slicks, etc. Don't know where this guy lives, but this car isn't even remotely close to street legal, anywhere in the United States.

Regardless, it's tremendous what he's been able to achieve in his race car - much respect for the quick/fast times, look forward to when it goes 8's.

To be a race BMW it would need a powerglide, tube chassis, or something to make it a dedicated drag car.

This is technically the top of the street cars. Sure, the lines are getting blurred, but this is still a built S52 running a manual I believe.

This isn't enough of a dedicated drag car for you? Agree to disagree there.

Yes, I believe it's a built stock motor, with an aftermarket/custom F/I system and an aftermarket tranny.

To me, that has very little to do with whether it's a street car or not. Does it have plates, and is it registered for use on public roads? If so, does it ever get used on them? Does it get driven to the track, swap wheels, race, swap back, and drive home? Or trailered to the track, raced, trailered home and parked/tweaked until the next race day? I don't know the answers to those questions... but (IMHO) they help point to if a car is a dual-purpose street/track car, or a dedicated-purpose, full race car.

    YMMV.

It's just a non-bmw trans. If we went down that road the same could be said for the internals of the motor, and the turbo kit on the car. Then we would move on to the tuning.Click here to enlarge

Franklin I didn't see him trying to make it a show car that parks hard. It rapes the drag strip exactly what it was built to do. Sticky here in lies the problem with people like Franklin and 600WHPS4 with mods in this section to put people in time out you get non-stop trolling like we have here. They have said they dislike the look of the car in all their posts, and nothing more.

The only thing that would keep me from driving to/from my track in my car is the 3hr drive each way.. if an axle broke, or driveshaft went out.. the tow home would be insanely expensive. If the track was less than an hour away nothing would stop me from driving to/from it and putting the drag wheels in the backseat.

That to me is a 'streetcar' .. keeping a car registered isn't difficult .. just don't drive it on the street.. wallah its registered keep the plates on it when you go to the drag strip.. that alone doesn't make it a street car.

To me its a street car when you can sit at a stop light next to a police officer and both leave at the same time and he doesn't pull you over. If it can do that, then its a street car in my opinion.

None the less this thing is insane!
