    n54 2.5 vs 3 in downpipe

Am I losing anything performance wise going with 2.5 ? or it should be sufficient enough ? Are our turbos 3 or 2.5 in ? Thanks Click here to enlarge FBO+METH

I've seen anything between 3 to 14 reported, but I've not see the dyno's to prove it. Personally, I'd go with 3" and catless at that.

I see, the problem is just 3 in downpipes that are on the market are overpriced even in used condition

I have run both. The 3 inch seemed to make my exhaust louder, but I really couldnt tell driving. I would just get the 3 inch for piece of mind. I like knowing im getting every last hp i can. Your going to hit the dyno and its going to be 399 instead of 400hp lol Just get the 3.

Just go 3 inch and pay now so you do not second guess yourself later. 3 inch gives you more room to grow no matter what.

HP is like a seductive temptress, we're never really fully satisfied because she won't let us be. $100 for Racelands it tempting, but you know it will be a tease and you'll be left wondering "what if I just spent the extra money for the 3"...until you eventually give in and buy them.

See, I just saved you a hundred dollars and the install/uninstall/install time.

just get 2.5"...twin-turboed vette from my local race shop was putting down 1080whp on dual 2.5" catless exhaust...when they switched out to 3" they only gained another 80whp at that power level...

on top of that, 2.5" will provide for faster exhaust gas velocity out of the exhaust providing for more torque down low with the same gains up top...

having said all that I upgraded my 2.5" catless to 3" catless when I went with RBs just for the hell of it as I got a good deal on them, otherwise no issues with 2.5"

2.5" dual catless exhaust has been said to only start becoming even a measurable restriction backpressure wise at over 600whp+

It's one thing if they're cheap and they fit, but when I bought Raceland's, they didn't fit and I had the worst time trying to get them to work. I spend around 10 hours wrestling with those pieces of $#@!, and another 2-4 hours adjusting them over and over trying to get them to fit without leaking. I then got some AR 3" downpipes and slapped them in without any issues in about an hour. Time is money, and if I were to do it all over again, I'd pick up the AR's again without question. They actually fit, and the quality is about a million times better. But that's just my opinion....

Exactly, you already learned the lesson that you get what you pay for.
