    X1 xDrive28i

This vehicle is similar to the Infiniti EX35, although it is slightly larger than the X1 in all dimensions, just as the Infiniti G35 sedan is larger than a 3 Series. But BMW has gone a different direction with the power train; currently the X1 is only offered as the xDrive28i, which in BMW-speak means an all-wheel drive platform powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine (unlike the other models using the 28i designation, which use inline sixes).

This new engine offers up 241 horsepower and an impressive 258 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a standard, close-ratio eight-speed automatic transmission. My tester is nearly a base model, which starts at $38,500; added to this price is a $950 standalone power seat option and the $1,490 Premium Package, which adds a panorama sunroof, heated steering wheel, aluminum roof rails, X-line metal-look exterior trim pieces and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

This is a cool motor and all but I just can't get into the X1's looks.
