Love the sound of Cobras, the combo of supercharger whine and deep V8 noise is lovely.

A pulley, tune, and a freer flowing exhaust does wonders on those cars.

Great video. Looks like the M3 would've done better from a highER RPM start.

You can tell the whining torque from that Cobra takes advantage from the beginning of each race.

What's done to each car? I'd assume pulley-tune-header on the Cobra. Thanks for posting

It would have done better with the DCT

DCT wouldnt have had much effect on the end result... The Cobra has soooo much torque in the lower gears it gonna jump out on most cars. No idea of the mods, something I stumbled across online while doing some research!

Definitely, that cobra was simply too strong. M3 might have put up a little better fight with DCT but ultimately the cobra would pull no matter what.

03 Cobra is the american supra, bulletproof stock engine that gobbles boost. What a legend.

People like to exaggerate DCT and people like to say it wouldn't have much end result. My experience with high revving BMW's is gearing is just about everything, but even with 7 ratio's and say.. an aftermarket diff, I don't think it'd be enough to pulls this Cobra -- The car is probably making 150ft/lbs more torque, has 6 gears and probably weighs less

You are right, no matter what the M3 is losing pretty hard.

The Cobra likely weighs more than the M3 not a bunch but likely an easy 100-150lbs more. In any case the DCT would reduce the distance for sure but the end result would be the Cobra pulling. Interestingly the Cobra is really a 4 gear car, 5 & 6th are overdrives as I learned recently. They dont fair well at WOT in 5th gear and forget about 6th. Meaning up to 150mph its a beast but the load on that motor in 5th in known to pop these motors. So much for bullet proof!

Those cobras arent really designed for Supra type races, up to 180. They are desiged for 40-140 roll ons or less.

Countless countless videos of 03 cobras walking a big power supra only to get raped after 150, duh...

Point is, you can race until whatever speed you want and keep going until eventually someone pulls on you which is chump race IMO.

For me, a race stops at 140-150, anything past that and you should go to a $#@!ing oval track.

I've always maintained that if someone can walk me from say 40-140/150ish then me doing the ricer flyby at anything beyond that is pointless. The Cobra has a definitive sweet spot and dealing with one in that range is a problem for many cars to deal with.

I am looking at 03/04 Cobra's and Z06's(C5) right now to purchase. I am very torn as I love Stangs but love massive top end which a supercharged Z06 will yield. No firm decision yet, I want both but I cant swing that and keep the Mrs LOL.

interesting, i love races that dip into the 180, 190's and even 200. cars that can achieve said speed can usually get there pretty darn quickly. above 200? i agree with you wholeheartedly. i believe its the road and traffic that dictate what speed the race can go up to, and of course the car's power level.

Well yes, but it has been updated twice since then with the new aluminum block coming not long ago at all.

The GT500 is not a Cobra, but I get his point. Sticky is correct the 2011up GT500's run an aluminum block now. Makes a significant difference in handling for the car as well.

Believe it or not, but the Cobra and the M3 weigh about the same. The Cobra comes in at 3,665 pounds in coupe form while the E92 M3 comes in at 3704 pounds. At the end of the day it doesn't make a difference because even though it think I might have a factory freak on my hands it's no match for the power deficit I faced at the hands of my buddy's Terminator. Even before we ran the race I knew I never had a chance. However, it does give me a pretty good idea where I want my car to be down the road performance wise. The closest race I have had to this day was up against an LS3 Corvette and even though I lost it wasn't by much. Afterall, I've always done it for fun and never took it too seriously.
