Wireless router recommendations?
Ok, basically I need a router with fast wireless speed. I get about 10 mbps now wireless but when directly connected I'm at 20 mbps. I want the full 20 mbps wireless.
Anyone have any good suggestions?

Whoa, nice! See what speeds you get right next to the router.
I used WNDR3700 last year but wasn't fast enough to stream blu-ray movies. Ended up putting a HTPC upstairs -_-

I just don't understand why wirless routers aren't faster. Seriously, this is the best they can do? What if they upgrade the line to 50 mbps capability? No wireless router will be able to deliver that throughput?

Either it is a limitation of the technology currently available, or the FCC thinks we're all going to get cancer from it...who knows.
My internet downloads faster than my intranet transfers wirelessly.

I want a router so powerful nobody can even use a cell phone within 50 feet of my house.

Ask the military to let you borrow a satellite...apparently they don't have any problems with speed issues.

I'm at 18 mbps now... how do I get those last 2?

I don't know, but do NOT put custom fw on it. I'm regretting doing that to mine because while it was good in the short run, I think I did something to my router's longevity....it lately has not been it's normal self and I may have to pick something new out soon...

Get a AVM FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270 ADSL/ADSL2
Wireless as fast as you need it, all the options you'll ever need, IPV6 compatible, DECT phone integrated for 6 phones, integrated firewall, VOIP without computer over DECT, the list is long.
Can also be used as a router without ADSL, say after your cable internetbox or fibreoptics box.
