    Ouch..Destroyed a motor!

So after entering in a dyno comp and the fear of comming second I had a sudden rush of blood decided to run a full 180hp shot. Made great power but lifted the head and pushed oil out. I pulled the head off for yet another inspection and noticed that the bores were cooked on 3/4 more on 4.

3 days after head was back on I was giving it a gut full and then was just cruising when I dropped a cylinder and I knew it was game over. Valve head dropped off on 4. Time for another built motor...Joys of nitrous and high heat and cylinder pressures.

Wow, that head looks nasty! So sorry to hear Loren! I'm sure you will be back better than ever though. What head studs were you using?

L19's . Yeah just bad luck Mike. I was going to replace the valves in the head when it was off but had an event I wanted to get to...

man that's gotta hurt. Looks like that piston hit pretty hard.

Can you go overbore or will you bore and put a repair sleeve in there? (if possible).

So will you go with different head studs and run a 180 shot again?

No will stay with same head studs. The issue I feel is the uneven distribtuion of the Nitrous being sprayed single nozzle. I was being a cowboy and paid the price. I have a DP system sitting on my bench arrived the day before it let go. Want to run 250hp shot but need to work out the best means of distribution.

This happened with the L19's? Wow, something had to be wrong with something else for the head to lift no? HPF is using those head studs up to 1000rwhp without issue...

Ohhhhh I already thought you were running direct port.

Didn't you read the FAQ on uneven distribution when going over a 100 shot wet? Click here to enlarge

Yeah crazy but ran 150 no problem, it was just that little to far for 3/4 cylinder... wonder how much of the shot they got.

LOL, there is no hiding it from youClick here to enlarge Well, It's together and had it's run in on the dyno. Made most power on pump/meth 528rwhp to date, which I'm stoked about considering I haven't tuned it yet. I'll work on that over the coming weeks so I'm sure there is more in it. I think the blower is running out of puff or it's belt slip, there is loads of belt dust.

Ok this my understanding of it. Yes we are and no we aren't. If we were to put the air temp sensor in the engine bay we would be, but it would also read a lot higher hp due to temp corrections, so we leave it hanging in the room to give a real figure. As you can see by the number of dyno runs 299+ I have always used the same dyno so I can compare apples with apples, good question though...

I've used it but DD's can be set anywhere really. It read very high in my application.

I don't know why more dyno dynamics users don't use shootout mode to prevent this speculation.

Chrome doesn't like that site btw, shows as malware.
