    9.92at145 with ~750whp, 9.7at154 with~900whp and a damaged compressor wheel/turbo. 3200lb race weight.

The same motor for all the runs, even up to today.

Hoping to get to 8.99, however at 3250 lbs it takes a lot more power/drivetrain than the E30 crew. I have full leather interior and cd player with the HK system in addition to a full cage and safety gear. Breakage is a regular and annoying issue. I still have OEM axles, however my trans, clutch, driveshaft and diff are all upgraded. The driveline is still all bmw as well.

With 900+ and a quest for 8's isn't it time to upgrade the axles? With everything else being upgraded that should be the next weak point but perhaps I am wrong.

Mikes got a good setup that works for him. Over building things can complicate the matter. There aren't many axle upgrades offered so you're banking on your money spent at DSS hoping they actually work well. Truth is, bias ply tires absorb a lot of the shock which is why these cars go so fast for so long on stock stuff.

Absolutely, bias-ply's absorb a good bit. People have had good results with DSS so it isn't like a leap of faith. Regardless, he has a setup that works for him so we will see what happens.

Actually people have had mixed to bad results with DSS. On my buddies E30 we used their driveshaft and it vibrated itself off of the output flange and took out his shifter about 150 miles away from home. A lot of people have issues with their DSS driveshafts balancing. DSS in VW world is "ok". Truth is, at $1500 or whatever they want for axles their record better be damned perfect, but its not.

If you know a better option than DSS do share. Good results in the E9X world.

We have a number of very reputable local driveshaft builders. S&W Racecars here have a great driveshaft builder. Though there are about a half dozen in the Philadelphia area that are good. And, mind you, cheaper than DSS.

Wonder why everyone seems to go with DSS? Would be good to see more builders tackle various BMW platforms.

That is right, and the DSS shafts have done well from what I understand.

I just re-read the earlier posts. That 900whp dyno was with my old turbo setup. I haven't dyno'd or raced the car with the stage3 cams, bigger turbo, or new fuel system. I'm still making hardware for the current setup. Hoping for closer to 1000+whp, but we'll see how close I can actually get. I've never used Comp Turbo before, and the oil-less center is still relatively unproven.

Ok, wow, well 1000 whp might even be conservative.

Great to see details of this posted here Mike!

Regarding half-shafts: I have more info on these than I can share....as some stuff I just can't talk about. What I can share is that I contacted 9 well known drivetrain companies, and only 1 of them I was confident with. Why? Because they wouldn't promise an unbreakable product, as in their view every component has a lifespan.

I know of a race team that ordered halfshafts from DSS 10 at a time.....
