It doesn't make much sense other than "style points".

There are many filtering options for velocity stacks but they won't be using one I promise you. They're all about stance and looks, not how things work or last. Brand new motor with open stacks is fail. I doubt they have cracked that brand new ECU either. But hey, who knows.

    I like this set!

I hope that set is a joke.

Yes, since they are affiliated with Stance Works I'm guessing they are more about looks than actual performance. I don't know if they have a tuner but I'm sure they could outsource that to a competent S65 tuner.

No filtering just doesn't make sense but you may be right that they are going for bling. Let's wait and see what they say, still waiting on a response.

Yeah - don't hold your breath really. As soon as questions about performance or "reliability" come around they somehow miss those emails lol. That set above is a joke, at the E36 S54 car.

Velocity stacks are awesome - as bnr32 said, I can't imagine the sound of that thing sucking air...

Nothing like a venturi effect to get air nice and swirled up with the fuel... I am curious about the filter though - I can't imagine putting something like this on an NA car without a filter. Reminds me of this F1 video: <-- if that doesn't make you smile, i can't imagine what would. Click here to enlarge

    FluidMotorUnion:
    Correct, no air filter.

We typically follow the notion that anything small enough to actually enter the engine bay, float around and end up inside the ITB is small enough to be burnt up in the combustion chamber.

Granted, there's due to be a bit more cylinder scratching due to the particulate that ends up in there, and there's more frequent oil changes to ensure that everything is clean and functional. I think it's best to copy what our lead engineer said about this:

"And no, there are no air filters. As much as Andrew (the face behind the Fluid posts) wants to believe that we have figured out everything there is to figure out behind running an engine without filters even though it has been considered a necessity for many years by engineers with way more experience...we haven't. What we do know is we have ran cars for many miles (20k+) with no apparent damage to the engine as long as we change the oil on a more frequent basis.

In our experience it just makes for a higher maintenance vehicle...and with cars, just like with women, the right type of high maintenance means...well...you know...something about sound, flow, and more frequent lubrication of vital parts."

So yeah - like i said lol.

Stupidity honestly - whether or not dust or pollen will harm your engine is irrelevant. Rocks/stones, nuts, bolts, the ends of zip ties as you cut them or even the nozzles themselves working loose with vibration.... having the throttles open on a $60k+ new car is stupid beyond belief. I run a screen on my turbo velocity stack but I also only put 2k miles on the car per year and I don't drive when there's salt and such on roads. Bad idea across the board.

Yeah, at the very least they should have mesh or some sort of screen on the stacks.

I doubt they will filter it - the only way tha twould work is making some huge airbox thing that will go over all of it and seal it up. None of the velocity stacks have a lip to put a filter around individually and with those claws coming across you'd have to poke holes anyway
    Yeah... thats what tuners do...

They claim estimated gains of 5-25 hp... Not worth it at all. Like someone said w/o the meth this would prolly loose power over stock.

Oh $#@!, they are having Powerchip tune it? Does Powerchip even have a tuner right now?

Is the 5-25 with the meth or without?

Not sure... the guy responded on the M3post thread and claimed an estimated 5-25 and said nothing more, I think they have no idea.
