Looking for best ECU tune for 335IS (probably another dreadful JB4 vs. Procede thread)

    Hello Everyone,

I joined this forum from a quick google search. I'm a member of other forums but figured I'd try my first thread as a noob here (heck, I'm probably in the wrong thread anyways).

Well, my question is simple. I want to do a very simple and small mod to my 335IS whenever I get it. I'm anticipating the day it arrives, as I just left it last week in Munich from Euro Delivery. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on mods, as it is just a lease (so tops, $1k).

I'm looking at PROcede and also JB4. If I go the JB4 route, I'll pick up an intake. If I go PROcede, I'd only go the PROcede. My question is - What exactly, does the PROcede offer, that the JB4 does not? I say it in that order, because the PROcede is double the price. Is it just the name, or what else does it give you (even if it's just reliability) that gives it double the price? Also, while we are on the subject, what is the most suggested intakes on the market?

    Thanks everyone.

    Dave

Thanks. What about issues with the dealer finding out about it? Is the BMS USB Cable necessary?

The dealer won't find out as long as you remove it for visits which is pretty simple.

Honestly, they are both great tunes. The thing is, with one you can get a tune and intake and other you can't. I say get the tune and intake.

We've tuned lots of 335is and the JB4 works great. And our features and wheel controls are second to none. The USB cable is nice to have around for free firmware updates when we add new stuff and a little cheaper on the combo price. If you have any addl questions feel free to email me.

    JB4+DCI = winning combo.

Easy upgrade path too, should you decide to add bolt-ons or methanol!

.. and the support; well it is by far the best you'll get in this industry, or any for that matter!

Isn't there an overboost option on the USA version of the is ?
Not sure if that still works after installing a JB4 though.

JB4. Terry has been tunning them for a while and I have yet to see anyone complain about misfires and limp modes at high RPMs like people do with the procede (except for the guy with upgraded turbos he has tried all of them and they all misfire). If you search in the other forum for anything bad about the procede chances are they are now deleted.

Honestly, when ever you ask about tunes in a forum, you're almost always going to get biased replies. I personally recommend the JB4, it's a great tune for a great price and BMS has awesome customer service.. If you can do it, try buying both and try them out. Both come with a return policy. Keep which ever one you want and like and return the other one.

I think performance wise thy're the same. since the JB4 overrides the ECU and turns the 335IS into a 335i. Correct me if I'm wrong on that one. But you will get the advantage of all the extra cooling and DCT which is a huge plus.

Not in the US, only in the 335is.

Not in the US, or I would have gotten my car with it. I think it was a Europe only thing for the N54.

Basically cooling upgrade. High output fan, upgraded oil cooler, an auxiliary radiator and larger openings in front bumper. Should eliminate those limp modes on hot track days. Also has a more free flowing exhaust and the overboost function.

Cobb Tuning just finished using my buddies car to finalize their Accessport tune for the 335is. It should be released soon.

You want simple, you can't get any more simple than plugging into the obdII port and flashing your car.

Thanks everyone, for the great responses. Guess I'm leaning towards the JB4 now.

I've read in other forums that DCI actually hurts the performance and only increase in performance is while Dyno'd, not during actual performance.

Would you guys recommend the CAI sold by BMS or a different one, such as AFE?

DCI installed alone will hurt the car. But with a tune the DCI are great and help the car breathe better. The more air going into the car the better the performance. I'd get the BMS JB4 + DCI combo, you can't beat the price.
