    You won't need a special tool. You use the provided cap to slide a new o-ring into the groove on the injector tips. When you buy new injectors this cap is there on the injector tips. You have to make sure that if you take the cap off you have to get it installed very shortly after as the seal will expand.

    I do know about the time limit upon removing the injector cap with new injectors.

    I had no idea you could replace the rubber o-ring on an old injector by simply pushing it on with the cap.

    Have I got that right?

    BMW has a special tool and procedure to remove the old o-ring and stretch on a replacement without touching the injector tip. Guess I'm kinda surprised you can just push it on with the cap?

    I am having the same issues as you and changed alot of the same stuff. Tried reading through your threads on this but I may be missing one since the topic jumped across several of your threads since you dealt with it for so long. I saw you replaced the cam bearing ledges but the issue still came back. Did you ever get it figured out without having to turn off misfire detection in the flash?

    I'm 6AT...gues it might be my cam bearing ledges...will try turning off my misfire detection and see if it still stumbles at high rpm...any advice is greatly appreciated

    I've had multiple cylinder misfires only high boost/load high rpm. Several different codes related to misfires to different cylinders at different time but basically only cylinder misfire codes and sometime Vanos solenoid code, replaced all coils and plugs and vanos solenoids. May have leaky injector as I have rough cold starts on E85, will check tomorrow morning if gas on plugs. Now only get different cylinder misfire codes but does not seem to be consistent on a cylinder or bank even.

    would check smooth running numbers at idle on cold start before and after the hdp pressure build up what plugs are you using and have you done logs on fuel pressure hi an lo

    What does hdp stand for?
    logged LPFP and HPFP and both are perfect
    using stock plugs, less than 5k miles, just pulled them all and they look perfect and non smell like gas. Running 100% E85 and meth.

    I'm having this exact same issue. It is only happening on cylinder 6 and only happens above 6500 rpms.

    manual or auto

    if manual could be most likely the dual mass flywheel

    Only way to fix it is a single mass flywheel and a new clutch

    At high rmp onm manuals the 6th cylinder is known to knock and sometimes badly enough to cause a cylinder shutdown

    If auto transmission check the plug gap and try changing the coil pack with another cylinder

    I am also dealing with this issue as well, 95% on cylinder 6 and 5% on cylinder 5 and 6. I have replaced new plugs, injectors (index 12) and moved coils around. opened and cleaned the earth strap for the cylinder as well to no avail. it only happens over 24psi. logs show no variance between banks.

    I wonder if it has to do with DCT cars having a DMFW? I have done all of the above + compression and leakdown test.

    Are you running stage 2+ turbos? Mine is fine on stock Turbos but the manuals only seemed to suffer the dmfw issue, I hear, on up-rated after market turbos or stockers runnng at high levels.

    If it only happens over 23 - 24psi and your running a DMFW, its most likely that.

    Doesn't matter what transmission.

    Even on manuals some do and some don't

    I think the only thing the manual guys did at the time was disable misfire detection, but thats too risky for me. guess I'll have to short shift

    Some manuals don't? Could it be that those flywheels have not been abused much and are in a new like condition? I don't have any need for hard launches, so if not doing any hard launches would do the trick, I could try a new DMFW in my family car, if there is any hope for it not misfiring at 550WHP. Currently I get complaints about the high idle and some rattling kind of noises...
