Why do we not have more details on this M5 and S38?

Sorry, We just did the motor on it. The timing chain guide rail where the post goes into the block. The block cracked. Lucky for me we were able to get a short block with pistons from BMW. Not badly priced $2,300. The $#@!ty part is it was the last one BMW had. Which was good for us but sucks for everyone else.

Thanks! It's not wild, but I tried to stay true to the era, which is why I spent 2 years looking for those RSes, built, bored and stroked N/A instead of turbo, etc, etc.

Once the seats were re-upholstered, carpet redone and the rest of the leather re-dyed, I use Leatherique...obsessively. Click here to enlarge

Thanks! That engine bay looks good...is it a B36 or B38? Based on the plastic throttle bodies I would've thought B38, but that looks like a distributor cap and B36 valve cover...what's the story?

B38 I would think since it is an E34: http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...8-Build-thread

The B36 and B38 were both in the E34...94 and 95 had the B38, which is when the US stopped getting the e34 M5. B38 got coil on plug, plastic intake trumpets, and a few other minor changes besides the obvious 90mm crank change. My car has the 90mm B38 crank, 144mm B35 length rods, and is bored out to 95.2mm, making it an S38B39 Click here to enlarge

Yup, b36 was put in early e34s, b38 in later...e24s/e28s got the b35. So mine is a b35 based motor, b38 crank with 11:1 compression, headwork, custom billet cams, ported throttle bodies, equal length headers, all run by a tec-IIIR.

Matt car looks great. Good to see it in the glory you planned for it after all the up's down's you had to go thru to get where she sits today. We need to meet up soon. I gotta see it in person.
